1  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Re: Bathtub Fountain! on: February 07, 2013 12:19:18 PM
Thanks y'all! I've been away from Craftster for a while, but I'm back now! Jared and I got married and bought a house and now this fountain is going to be headed to our new place! I'm thinking of re-working it though. I think I'll remove the long pipe and make it so it's more of a bubbly-type fountain since it will be sitting on our deck that is HIGH up off the ground and I don't want all of the water to get pushed out by the wind. I'm also thinking I'll spray paint the front of it a funky color and maybe see if Jared will build a wood case type thing around it to set plants on and to make it look more finished. I've got so many plans it's ridiculous.

Thanks, y'all! I haven't been on Craftster for a while, but I'm back and I appreciate all the ideas! I love the idea of using it as a birdfeeder!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Tree Wall hanging made of scrap fabric yo-yos, an old sweater and buttons! on: May 17, 2011 11:28:54 AM
I started making this a year ago, and this project has taken forever to finish! not because it's hard, but because sometimes I get lazy. so here's a picture!

the yo-yos are from the remnant pile at walmart, the trunk is made from a sweater that belonged to Daddy, and the buttons came from my husband's grandmother's stash. I also embroidered our initials into the tree. Here's a few more pictures closer up:

what do y'all think? this was my first project like this!

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Black bird key ring holder! on: April 29, 2011 08:26:35 AM
My new husband and I can't keep up with our keys to save our lives. I decided to make something pretty to hang by the door that way we could keep up with them!

I asked Jared to cut out the rectangle and a couple of other shapes for other projects and I sanded them down and started to paint them.

I used red and blue since those are the colors of my kitchen and I attempted a crackle finish, which didn't really turn out the way I wanted, but I still liked it, so i went with it! I found a bird shape online and cut it out and traced it. After all the paint dried, I attached hangers in the back and hammered in three masonry nails to be the hangers and it was done!

let me know what y'all think!
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Business Name thread - Get opinions and ideas about names for your business! on: March 01, 2011 10:57:08 AM
Hi Craftster!

I'm trying to come up with a name for my business and i desperately need y'all's help! My business will be focused on southern folk art with an emphasis on upcycled and repurposed materials. This would include garden art and home goods. I was hoping for something that would bring to people's minds warmth, southern charm, etc. I was thinking something like "Sun-Soaked South" but i'm not sold on it. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks y'all! The paint is some we had left over from the kitchen. They'll be hanging in the living room and you can see the kitchen from there, so i was trying to bring some of that blue into the livingroom!
