So a little over a year ago the boyfriend decided he wanted to become quite the spiffy dresser. Now he already owns plenty on neckties, but bow ties were a new thing for him. After purchases a few from department store, I was determined there was a cheaper way. Soon after Martha Stewart posted a pattern for bowties on her website. I used the basic shape of her pattern on most of these, modified slightly to my own tastes. Most are made from quilters cotton.

Make excellent gifts for the men in your life, especially when paired with a coordinating (but not matching according to the BF) pocket square.

These are more of the summery ones I have made. Fall bow ties to come!

This one is made from 1960's upholstery fabric.

Mystery vintage fabric- one of the first I made.

Seersucker

Crepe Back Satin- He wore this one to a wedding he was a groomsman in last weekend.

Batwing shape bowtie.

Please excuse the taco sauce on his face.....I was luck just to get these picture.

This is one of the best costume ideas I have seen in a while. Finally, a cute costume that's not skimpy.
