1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Graduation Gift! on: June 02, 2006 02:27:29 PM
This year I'm a senior and well. I'M GRADUATING! and so are my friends! AND! we're all having graduation parties. I think as a senior it's still nice to get my friends gifts, and not spend a lot of $$ because well. i'll need it at college.

if anyone's in my boat, i have an idea! a handy dandy bedside/ over-the-door/ roll-it-up caddy would be SUCH A GREAT IDEA. if it's portable, cute storage then it's what every college kid needs.

check out the latest edition (summer 2006) of cutting edge magazine OR the new craftster book (pg 145) for some ideas. it's worth your time!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / i live inside a TANGERINE. on: July 23, 2005 01:28:11 PM
this past month, i prepared. i washed. i cleaned. i bought. i primed. i sealed. i waited. i PAINTED.

i take great pride in the color of my room. the top half (ceiling included) is "osage orange", the bottom half is "naval" all the paint, supplies, and rollers, ETC cost me about $100. it was an expensive project, but TOTALLY WORTH IT. oh, and my door is orange too. i have a hanging ironing board. everyone should get one of those.

here are some pictures.

firstly, me in my sexxxxy room. its my new myspace picture. COMMON NOW. its absolutely necessary.

my sewing desk. i got it for free at a garage sale. it was like 1PM and the woman was like "just get this out of my house!" and i was like "FINE! I'LL TAKE IT!" so now its mine. it used to be ugly wood, but now its white because i like to paint.

picture from "a distance." orange is such a FAB color.

my dresser, mirror next to it. and thread holder next to that. its just a slab of wood with nails in it. beneath my window is a bookcase thingo from IKEA where i keep all my FABRIC! <3

fabric in bookcase thingo. i really need to oraganize it better, but its always an adventure when i rummage through. i find things i forgot about.

other assorted sewing items, the little box (greenish w/ gold) my mom found at a garage sale for FIVE DOLLARS. and it was filled with all sorts of goodies. she ran with it, i got it for my birthday. basket contains things that i've sewn/made. purses, wallets, earrings ETC!

my bed! i got the duvet cover at a garage sale for twooooooooo dollars! i like it. the purple curtains are makeshift until i get me some that match my room. i'm thinking about hitting up IKEA for some white curtains.

me and my dog (pompay) GETTING EXCITED! we love being in my room.

i hope this inspired someone. i just wanted to share my excitement. maybe this just gave you something to look at for a minute or two. who knows!!

thanks for looking!
happy crafting!

KTHXBYE<3

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / 5 ft long wall collage = totally awesome. on: February 06, 2005 11:04:09 AM
OK! so i had this really bad accident with myself going through a glass window the other morning. 7 stitches in my ear and 4 in my head! OUCH! and various cuts on my hand... but ANYWAY i was home from school for the past few days, and i really couldn't do anything involving a lot of energy, so this is what i did to get my mind off the pain!  Grin

all i did was measure a section on my wall from end to end that lined up with my window on the left side.

then on the top and bottom i traced 1 1/4" radius half-circles, one next to the other with a good ol' black sharpie. then painted inside the lines because that's what i'm best at.

then i took a bunch of pictures, ads, ticket stubs, postcards, cards, ETC and taped them up on my wall in whatever way i so pleased. i covered it up pretty nicely!!

i'm proud. i like the way it looks.

ALSO! last year (jan 2004) i created an easy way to store most of my thread. so its right next to my machine, i can see all the colors! ETC/WHATEVER!

i found a nice long slab of wood in my shed and asked my dad if i could have it. he said yes, so i spray painted it SILVER! just for fun... (actually it was all we had) then about every 2 inches or something... (i can't remember now) i drew a mark then nailed in a nail! its holding up pretty nicely

i nailed 2 more nails on either side near the top, and attached string to that and its hanging up! i nailed it into the wall with help from my dad. its a little heavy but i haven't had any problems with it.

hope you like! or at least get some ideas or something!

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / TUTORIAL: Super Cute Wallet! on: December 28, 2004 07:38:17 AM
The wallets i had been making for the past few months just weren't 'cutting the mustard' anymore, so last night i came up with a new pattern that i made all by my little self! YEEEEAH! and i really really really like the way it came out! its a bi-fold wallet with plenty of room for cards and cash. its very very easy to make and doesn't take much time or fabric! its pretty awesome if you ask me.

WALLET:

there are 4 different card holder slots! and you can put a bazillion cards in each slot because they're nice and roomy!

<broken image> http://www.kudzubusters.com/hdog/157_5752.jpg
nifty little velcro closure! works out well, i think

<broken image> http://www.kudzubusters.com/hdog/157_5753.jpg
yeah those big $1 take up a lot of room in my wallet.

hope you enjoyed! if i get some positive feedback on the wallet, i'll post a tutorial soon!
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / how in the world does one sew with sequins?! on: November 26, 2004 07:16:39 PM
ok i have always been in love with sequins, and i've been dying to make a pair of sequin shoes. (i dont know if anyone gets taht alloy catalog... but there's a pair in there that i want worse than any other pair of shoes i've ever wanted) anyway! i saw this bag on urban outfitter's website and i was like OMG *spark* i totally need a bag made of sequins. the problem is, i don't have the slightest idea how to sew with sequins. if i were to make a bag liek this:

<This image is no longer available>

how would i go about sewing on the sequins?!?!

i know you can buy sequins on strands because i've done that, but how to you sew them on as a whole? the only efficient thing i can think of doing is using my slave, my hot glue gun. but i'd rather not get glue all over the place.

any ideas  would be greatly appreciated! and when i go about making this bag, i PROMISE i'll post pictures and a little 'how i did it' tutorial type thing. thanks in advace!!! <3

I used the infamous JORDY BAG tutorial to create these bags, i'd like a little feedback! tell me what you think of them! I need to add closures, so if anyone has ideas for creative closures i could add... let me know! but i'm soooooooo excited about these! i made them when i was home sick with the flu! <3

THE BIRD. i saw it somewhere before, so i had to use it on my own bag, and the whole red/blue thing came to me at like 3AM when i was sick the other day and i was nearly killed trying to find my pencil and notebook to write down my idea. but it came through.

http://www.mrsjones.org/heather/craftster/154_5444.jpg
ah yes, the precious. this bird .. i think i did a good job stitching it on. if nothing else, love the bird.

http://www.mrsjones.org/heather/craftster/154_5446.jpg
