1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / crafty baby shower? on: December 10, 2007 04:49:09 PM
Hi all,
my sis and I hit on a fun idea while at a craft fair last weekend (you know, walking around and saying "I could make that.").  She suggested we get the supplies together and have folks over for a crafty baby-shower (my baby is due in April). I have a lot of creative friends and I love the idea.  I'm looking for ideas of how to make it work, pitfalls you might envision, and suggestions of projects.  Ideas so far:

plain onesies, shirts and bibs with felt and sewing machines available to sew cute animals or other shapes onto them

someone just gave me a tie-dye kit so dyeing onesies, diapers, ?? [I like this one b/c I'm avoiding using dyes while PG but would love to have some colorful stuff for the babe]

making felt or sock animals/creatures

what else? or will it be overwhelming to have too many possible activities?
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / curvy quilt top on: September 11, 2005 07:51:31 PM
Had to show off even though it is just a quilt top still. I used the book "Stack A New Deck" and it was great. I finished the top in a short, easy week. I've never (successfully) sewed curves before but since the edges of the curves don't have to match, you can just relax and enjoy the piecing.  It is destined to be a baby quilt for some good friends.

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / first craft fair - pricing suggestions on: July 31, 2005 02:33:09 PM
Hi there -

I'm going to be sharing a booth with my friend who is doing some fabulous knit scarves. I have a variety of magnetic creations - altoid type boxes with theme lids filled with magnets. But I also have some "loose" magnets to sell. Any pricing suggestions?? They are relatively small - the stamps are real stamps, the marble mags are 1/2", the Mexican lottery cards are approx. 1" x 2", and the origami cranes are an inch or so.

4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / printer advice? on: March 02, 2005 02:05:35 PM
Hi all -

my sweetie and i are in the market for a new printer - in part b/c our old one isn't good enough to do iron-ons!!

Anyone have good or bad experiences with specific printers they would care to share (related to iron on transfers)?

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / bridal shower: crafty group gift ideas on: February 26, 2005 10:19:32 AM
I've always thought it would be neat to have a handmade gift from the "supporting women" to the bride-to-be which everyone contributed to.

Like a quilt with squares from dear friends and family.  Of course that is an ambitious thought and who would put it all together etc.

Wandering about this site I also got the idea to do a knitted scarf that everyone contributes to as they can (not everyone is a knitter yet). Maybe each bring a piece of yarn and if they want to knit it in they can or someone else can help. Perhaps knit sideways to highlight the contribution of each person?

Anyone else have suggestions/ideas along this line?
