Pretty cool idea!  I've been struggling with wire to make holder type things for the stones I have.  I will have to try to incorporate something like this for some.  Thanks for sharing!   Wink
20  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Beautiful Tinker Bell! on: November 02, 2009 08:22:15 AM
Hello all!
This is the Halloween costume I made for my sister!

She really wanted to be Tinker Bell because her boyfriend was going as Peter Pan and their friend put together a Captain Hook costume.  We went to the store and she bought a large variety of fabrics that might be useful for a Tinker Bell costume she was planning on making for herself.  The other problem is that she doesn't know how to really sew because also that day she said something like, "I just got a new sewing machine, and I want to learn how to sew, but I don't have any supplies, can you help me pick out what I would need to start off my sewing basket?"

So, I mentioned I'd help her put it together, but then she tells me Thursday morning, "Oh yeah, my boyfriend helped me put it together, it's almost done, don't worry!"
Ok, cool, I thought!  So...around midnight on Thursday now, I am over her house, getting ready to go home, we all have to work early in the morning....and she pulls it out.  Completely unfinished.  Not even close.  So for the next 2 hours I'm just trying to make the thing fit her because it was way too tight around the top, and.....and...the thing was three layers of floor length!
That night I made the top look the way it did, reshaped it all around.

The next day I spent another 4 hours getting rid of the floor length fabric that was all sewed in, reworking everything, and doing all the finishing touches!

I also attached the wings, which I did not make, to the dress so that they stayed up and not flopping around, and also so the straps of the wings wouldn't show since the dress is a tube top.  So the wings couldn't really be removed, but in the end, after partying for two days, it's best they were attached!

She was also going to wear little cute gold flat shoes which she attached puff balls to, but her boyfriend insisted that she wear heels.....men....so, she attached puff balls to the heels instead.

About 5-6 hours total it took me to revamp the whole thing.

She looked great, I just think she was beaming with happiness when the whole thing was done because I don't think she would have gone out with her friends if she didn't have a costume.  She had a great time, and wore it Friday and Saturday all over town.  I'm so happy because she was so happy!

Thanks for looking!!  Grin
