Labels/tags want to be beautiful, they want to be altered into something stunning just for you. They want to be painted, sewn, collaged, stapled, hole punched, glued, threaded with ribbons and woolsyou name it, they want to do it. Theyre adventurous little things.

There's lots of things you can do with them, like Rackycoo's idea to make a book, inspired by ~ Beautiful Bindings for Handmade Books ~ which shows how to make a book to display tags. If the tags are left blank they can be used for gift tags. Or they can be pegged up on string washing line, pinned onto cork boards, tied onto furniture knobs...the list is endless!

This swap is all about altering a number of labels/tags and swapping with a group so that you receive the same number back. There will be 5 to a group. Make 4 tags get 4 tags. (signups permitting). Though the limits are up to you if you want to arrange to swap more than one label with your partners.

The size of the tags are to be 4-6cm x 10-12cm.  You can use pre-manufactured tags or make your own out of card stock.

You will asked for 5 themes of what you would like to receive.  Your partners will pick one of your chosen themes and craft a tag in that theme.   This may mean that you will receive a tag on a different theme from each of your partners or your partners may choose to craft the same theme.  It is up to your partners to decide what they will craft for you.  You can indicate a preference in your questionnaire but it is still up to your partner which of the 5 themes they will pick.

You must be willing to send internationally.  Since tags are small, a DC# is not required but if your tags are not received after 3 weeks you will need to resend.

You must post at least once in this thread and the relevent gallery thread to ensure that you received all messages.  I will not be sending out messages via PMs. If you have been approved for the swap your name will appear below in the approved participants list.

You must address all PMs to the organiser with "Altered Label (tag) Swap 2" in the subject line.  You must also advise the organiser via PMs when you have sent and received your tags.  I do not trall through the swap and gallery threads for updates.  People not sending PMs when they send AND receive will get poor communication comments in their feedback.

35  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Steampunk ATC swap on: April 15, 2008 06:10:00 PM
I have recently become fascinated with all things steampunk,  Anyone interested in swapping steampunk themed ATCs?

I am willing to organise but not for a few weeks.

36  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Pink Christmas Ornaments with TUTORIAL - more pics, red, purple, black on: November 09, 2007 01:32:03 PM
I spotted some Christmas Ornaments that are very much like these.  I decided I could make them myself and for probably cheaper. So using polystyrene foam balls, some acrylic paint, water based craft glue (I used Gemstone Glue), satin cord (rat's tail cord), seed beads, silver bead cap, head pin and some silver cord this is what the results are.

It took a few days for me to make each so I made three at a time.  You could make more but I just didn't have the space on my craft desk.  What takes the time is the drying time.  The glue needs to dry at each stage before you can move on.

1. Paint the balls where the beads are going to be glued.  I matched the paint to the colour of the cord.
2. Glue satin cord in a spiral at each 'pole' of the ball. Start from the middle and work out. Go slowly, don't use too much glue and use pearl head pins to hold the cord until the glue drys.
3. Turn the ornament on its side. Use the pearl head pins in the side so that your ball has feet to rest on. Apply a small amount of glue on the painted surface of the ball and sprinkly beads over the glue. You will only be doing a small area at time so don't rush and put glue on too big an area or it will just run down the side, your beads won't stick.  Allow glue to dry, then move on the the next area.
4. Put the head pin through the bead cap and make a loop using plyers.  Use the plyers if necessary to make the bead cap more 'ornament top' like.  This will depend on what bead caps you are using.
5. Put a blob of hot glue on the top of your ornament where the bead cap is going to be located. Then place the bead cap on the glue. Don't put the glue into the bead cap as you are likely to burn your fingers.  The hot glue heats the bead cap and it takes forever for it to cool down so that the hot glue will harden.
6. Tie a piece of silver cord on the loop at the top and you have finished.  Put finished ornament on Christmas tree.

37  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Ribbon Organiser made from paper and stuff. on: October 13, 2007 03:36:53 PM
I had been buying a whole heap of ribbons to use in my paper crafts  and I was starting to need something that would store it well on my craft desk without taking up a whole lot of room.  Hence I sat down and made this.  It is sturdy enough to hang on the wall.

Some foam core, mulberry paper, scrapbook paper, dowel, ribbon, a few other doodads and lots and lots of glue
Total height 34cm,  width 30cm, depth 8.5 cm

Compartment on the top to store loose ribbons

the two lower compartments are for ribbon on reels. A dowel goes through the middle of the reels and is removable so that new/more reels can be added.

38  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Another small shrine swap on: October 03, 2007 03:37:42 PM

39  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Vintage-style Meow. on: October 03, 2007 02:13:31 AM
OK  I had my cards done  but then I saw this marvelous Halloween item made by Racky

I just knew that I had to make an ATC in a similar style.  The colours are a little off  when I scanned it.

40  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween Wreath made by an Aussie. on: September 30, 2007 02:08:20 PM
There is a pitiful lack of decent halloween crafty goods available in Australia, seeing as Halloween is not really celebrated in Australia.  Most of it is cheap and nasty looking.  In fact  I was so disappointed in what was available, I decided to use what I already had from my own stash to make my wreath.
I cannablised a grape vine wreath from one of my old Christmas wreaths, added a rose, some feathers, ribbon and a crow that I received from one of my partners in the Crow ATC swap.

My inspiration  came from these two posts.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=196372.0 and
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=198130.0

The wreath is about 9 inches in diameter.
