1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 2013 Annual DeStash-Along on: January 02, 2013 02:00:14 PM
Well I have made a start on the destashing for 2013.  This also helps out with a couple of goals that I have this year.  A better organised household and reducing the stash.  I didn't have a good year destashing last year.  I hardly made any thing. But the upside is that hardly anything was added to the stash.

The first thing I have made this year is this over the door purse holder.   I used up almost 2 metres of fabric just leaving a fat quater and some scraps.

I did hardly any destashing during 2012,  but I didn't buy much in the way of new stash either.

This was the last thing that I did manage to finish in 2012 was my Christmas hat.   Most of the things came from the stash but I did need to buy the fabric, feathers and the bird to finish the hat.

Lovely. I read the link you posted. I would prefer to do mine in cardboard like yours. Can you offer any help regarding bending the cardboard brim to shape? Is there a trick to covering the brim with fabric so the edge does not look wonky? Thanks.

I shape the brim by rolling it up on the sides, rolling the brim around a paint brush handle. Not that you see it very well in the pics but I actually cut a strip of bias binding from the fabric I am using to cover the hat.  The bais binding hides the raw edges of the fabric covering both sides of the brim.

I went on holidays for a week and I come back and this thread has grown by so many pages.   So many nice things posted while I was gone.

I managed to do some craft while I was away.  Yep I took some of the stash with me.  I will post pics soon.
