351  Re: Australia / New Zealand Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by qazicat on: November 12, 2005 05:23:26 PM
I got my lovely swap goodies from starmeg yesterday

First the bag.  Perfect for my needs.

Inside was a  vinyl wristlet pouch containing a felt needle book and wrist pin cushion.
I was just thinking last week that I need a needle book.

As well as a cool comic book wallet. I have no idea how starmeg new that CatWoman was my favorite
comic book character.  Oh and some Whittaker's chocolate which I ate immediately.

Thank you starmeg.

Poppysmum sent me a parcel of sushi goodies.

From top clockwise.
knitted sushi cat toys, wind up sushi toy (my kitties are not sure what to make of this one),
fridge magnets, sushi ephemera, plastic rice ball case.

even the plate is a fridge magnet

and inside the rice ball was a little sushi pendant that you can clip on to your mobile/cell phone

Thanks again poppysmum

353  Dangle bead bracelet. (more photos on page 2) in Beads: Completed Projects by qazicat on: October 27, 2005 12:28:34 AM
This is a bracelet that I have made recently for a swap.  My swap partner has received, so I can finally post a picture of it.   I am rather pleased how this turned out.  I may make more of them.

Comments appreciated.

Thank you.

OK my camera battery is charged now.  Here are the pictures of my swap parcel from Lv2ScrpBk.

Pirate flag and stationary.

Assorted papers.

Fridge magnets and candy wrappers (because I ate them as soon as I opened my parcel).

Another way of making a ball is sewing 4 fat leaf shapes together.  My crappy drawing will give you an idea of the shape you need.

359  Re: big ruffles on dress help! in Halloween Costumes by qazicat on: October 21, 2005 12:33:49 PM
I am a very experience seamstress and I have been sewing for a really long time.  I have been looking at the photo and I don't think rectangles of fabric will make a ruffle like that.  It is more likely circles of fabric as there is no gathering  where the ruffle joins onto the dress.  It is hard to tell from the photo but it looks like there may be at least 4 circles making up that one ruffle.

To make the ruffle you would need 4 circles of fabric cut like a circle skirt, except that you would cut through the circle as i have drawn in my diagram. This will become the seam to join to the next circle. The circumference of the inner circle would be one quarter of the length where the ruffle joins the skirt plus seam allowances.

It also looks like that the ruffle is fully lined.  I would use iron on interfacing on both my ruffle and the lining to give the stiffness that it requires.  Hard to tell from the photo but it looks like there is more than on ruffle.

You are going to need a lot of fabric to accomplish this.

Hey I just got home from work and look what was there waiting for me.  My swap parcel from hertrigger

I asked for a bracelet.  Not only did I get one bracelet, but I got two.  Both with matching earrings.  As if that wasn't enough I also received a bag of glass beads.  Can't wait to use these extra beads in a project.  Just need to think of a project worthy of them.

Thanks hertrigger,  I really love them.

Thank you, Thank you again.
