1  Re: 2013 Annual DeStash-Along in Craftalongs by qazicat on: January 02, 2013 02:00:14 PM
Well I have made a start on the destashing for 2013.  This also helps out with a couple of goals that I have this year.  A better organised household and reducing the stash.  I didn't have a good year destashing last year.  I hardly made any thing. But the upside is that hardly anything was added to the stash.

The first thing I have made this year is this over the door purse holder.   I used up almost 2 metres of fabric just leaving a fat quater and some scraps.

I did hardly any destashing during 2012,  but I didn't buy much in the way of new stash either.

This was the last thing that I did manage to finish in 2012 was my Christmas hat.   Most of the things came from the stash but I did need to buy the fabric, feathers and the bird to finish the hat.

I have put away most of my trees and ornaments but I still had one of my wall trees still up.

Here is a photo with the hats on the wall tree.

You ask how they are attached to the tree. I just bend the branches up into the crown of the hat or I tuck them in between the branches.

As you saw in my last post that I made a doll with a top hat. I loved the hat so much that I decided that little hats all over my Christmas tree would look great. So I made some more hats.  Everything used to make these hats comes from the stash.

The hats have there own thread.

Each hat uses about 3/4 of a fat quarter of fabric.  The hats are also lined.
I plan the keep making little hats until I get I get bored of making them.

7  Mini Wellington Top Hat Tree Ornaments (image heavy)- More pics on page 4 in Winter Holidays by qazicat on: January 26, 2012 01:20:43 AM
Wasn't sure where to post these but considering I use them as tree ornaments, I am posting them here.

I made a steampunk doll that needed a hat.  See doll here

And I loved the hat so much that I decided that little hats all over my tree would look great. So I made some more hats.

Total hat height from brim to top of crown is 8 cm

Here are some close ups of individual hats.

I made a Steampunk/Neo-Victorian doll using items entirely from the stash.  I actually made this last year, but hadn't posted photos before.

She has here own thread here, which also shows a full photo

There is a reason why I am posting this, which will become clear in my next post on this thread.

9  Steampunk/Neo-Victorian doll. in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by qazicat on: January 26, 2012 12:44:53 AM
My doll guild was holding an exhibition of Steampunk dolls.  I made this doll in addition to the Steampunk Softies that I made.

10  Ombre Cake in Dessert by qazicat on: January 26, 2012 12:33:28 AM
Having seen lots of pics on the internet of ombre cakes, I decided that I wanted to have one for my birthday cake.  Icing the cake took longer than I thought but the results are so worth it.   I used 3 packets of vanilla cake mix.

The icing is not quite as dark as it appears in the photos.
