1  INTERCHANGEABLE MUSTACHES...shrinky dinks in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by loulabear on: August 06, 2009 02:28:50 AM
Okay, so the picture here is not really the best way of explaining this necklace, so I'll try with my words.  Basically I made a nose pendant out of shrinky dinks and attached it to a necklace.  I then made a little wire hook that attached to the bottom of the nose, and on this wire hook you can put each little mustache -- interchangeable mustache necklace!  Here is a pic of the full set together:

I am def planning on making more of these, maybe to sell?  Not sure yet, but I'm loving the shrinky dinks!  I have a few more "dynamic" ideas I'm working on, so hopefully I'll be able to share those too.  I will try to take a picture of this necklace in action and post that for you all, I know it is confusing.

questions, comments, criticism...all is welcome!  and thanks for looking!

3  beaded bouquets. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by loulabear on: July 08, 2009 02:56:05 PM

I went on a little mini beading spree.  I saw these beaded bouquets in a beading with wire book that I decided not to buy, but I mentally bookmarked this project to make sometime.  They are supposed to look like little bouquets of flowers.

Here are some close-ups:

What do you think?

Stoledina, I love your plate -- well done!  I esp. love the little scalloped paper -- it looks like fabric/lacey awesomness.  Christephi, best of luck on your list -- I find it helpful to share my lists with a group of people too -- accountability, baby!

I love this July theme!  I feel very summery, and it's just so much fun to make little flower themed x-mas presents.  I saw these little bouquets in some wire beading book somewhere, a book that I didn't buy (oops...) and I quickly memorized the idea!  I made four overall, but only 2 are for x-mas presents, so here they are!

this one is for my girlfriend's mother -- she loves greens, blues, purples, and pins!  PERFECT.

I'm not sure who this one is for -- but I'm sure I'll figure it out -- haha, I seem to be making a ton of "unclaimed" gifts, but I feel like I always have a group of people that I don't know what to get them, so hopefully instead of running to world market I can just go shopping in my craft area in december.

I hopefully will be finishing a large crochet project, and a fewer smaller crochet projects too, and I have a few more things planned...So hopefully this won't be the last you hear from me this month!

I also can NOT believe the year is 1/2 over!  CRAZINESS.  Nonetheless, here are the crafts I finished this month...

These are some notecards I made for my girlfriends' little sister.

This is a vase I also made this month -- decoupaged.  I'm not sure who it's for yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out!

Happy crafting everyone!

6  Humpback Ami... in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by loulabear on: June 15, 2009 10:37:12 PM
This is my second Ami -- I made some really simple owls to start, and then I just jumped right into a humpback whale.  I made it for my little brother who is turning 4 this August and who is currently obsessed with with whales of all sorts.  So I went on etsy and found this amazing pattern by edafedd -- super easy and fun to follow!
Here he is!

c&c is always welcome... thanks for looking!

ignore the carpet schmutz -- rabbits make vacuuming a 24/7 job...and I just can't keep up with his newspaper shredding habit...

So no huge projects for me, but I did manage to make a few gifts and then something that I'd been planning on making last month but didn't get a chance to.

First, I made some gift deco bows out of recycled magazines -- something I was planning for last month, but just didn't happen.  These aren't really gifts per-say but they will make the season more special...I have grandiose plans to make as much of my gift wrapping out of reused materials as I can, so these are a start.  Here they are!

I also have been on a huge rubber stamp buying kick lately, a newer obsession for me.  So I decided to try making just some simple notecard/stationary sets.  The first one is for my Girlfriend's little brother (he drives a Prius and is obsessed with it...)

Not a great picture, I know -- but those are silver prius stamps!  And the envelopes have a prius on the back and underneath it it says "tree hugger".  They really look much better in real life.

I also made another card set that is just a general extra gift for just someone, who knows who:

Trees!  Environments!  Yay!

Okay, that is all -- I also am just barely making it in, but I made it!  So excited for June!

8  First Ami's ... Tiny Owls! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by loulabear on: April 04, 2009 09:21:50 PM
Hi all!
I crocheted these three tiny owls for a friend's birthday.  I got the pattern for free from Roman Sock ( http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/ ) -- Check it out if you haven't heard of it!  They were super easy and quick, and my friend really loved them!  They definitely gave me confidence to keep on going with Ami making...which was totally new for me.  Apologies for the picture, it was taken by my friend after I gave them to her, so they're not as close as I would have liked...

They are actually three separate pieces, but they do stack nicely...

questions, comments?  Please and thank you...
And thanks for looking!

This thread might be kinda dead, but I'm still going...!
I finally finished the shawl I was making in this stitch for one of my best friends -- it's a christmas present.  Here it is!

I would love to see other people's projects if they've finished them...
This shawl was done with LionBrand Cotton Ease yarn -- really nice and comfy.  It took about 2 3/4 skeins -- this stitch really eats up yarn, but I love it!

Here is the wrap I crocheted for one of my best friends.  It is a broomstick lace stitch that I love -- you'll probably see more broomstick lace for christmas from me this year...

I love the owl!  I'm sure your daughter will love it, and I agree, the story behind it just makes it that more precious.  I was sad I couldn't do anything memory oriented this month.  Both of my childhood dogs (two golden retriever brothers) died this month, and I am thinking about doing something memory oriented about them for my parents for another project...but I'm not sure what to do yet.  Any ideas?
