1  Re: Crafty Detective Round 7 in The Swap Gallery by lindzyt on: April 26, 2011 09:08:09 PM
Alright, camera found and pics taken.  Let the oohing begin!  Smiley  Be forewarned, big pic heavy post here.

Ok dear partner, you were on the narrowed down list but I have to admit I didn't guess.  It seems we share a habitual lateness in life.  My mom likes to joke that I was even born late!  lol  Still, no worries.  This box made the wait totally worth it.

I almost didn't go to the post office today, just got off work after a very long day where Murphy's Law was in full glory today.  Decided to stop anyway where I found this waiting for me

All the stickers are great!  This one has to be my favorite though  Smiley

It was all I could do not to open it in the car.  Had to be patient, something like this needs time to go through.  Smiley
Finally get home and open it up to find a ton of goodies

(I'll get to the "boring" package in a moment)

Start opening and let the squees begin!  I must have known something subconsciously - at work (I work at the local zoo, today I was in the IMAX theater) I had a chance to watch one of our movies.  I watched "Alaska"
This is what I opened first in this box of lovelies

Inside the envelope with "the world's least impressive drawing of a peacock" (which I rather liked actually  lol) are a little clue.  Some awesome postcards from my partner's state: Alaska!

Another small package.  Magnets to add to the collection on my fridge.

I love these.  I've been wanting to travel up there for years now, ever since my grandparents went the first time.  They loved it there and their stories were so vivid, I want to see it for myself.  Smiley

Plus a few extra goodies.
A Pez rubber duck (love! the candy and the duck!), a bird mobile to make, and most importantly a purple sketchbook!  Just the right size to stick in my purse.

Then on to the larger packages.

First some napkins for my table.  I have a vintage 50's table with chrome and a black top with white swirls.  These will go perfect on it, just the right touch!  I love jewel tones, especially purple and deep reds.  Smiley  Each one has a unique pattern in tiny beads.  A little sparkle for the table.  Smiley

Next - a pillow for my couch.  Beautiful embroidery of an octopus.  Again my partner got it all just right.  There was some serious squeeing when I opened it.  The whole octopus is deep red, for some reason the pic makes it look pink, on a brown plaid.  I love embroidery though it totally escapes me, so I admire anyone who has a talent for it.  Smiley

And the best part of this whole package?  Harold!!!!!
One of my all time favorite books is Harold and the Purple Crayon.  I still have my copy from when I was a kid.  Plus she added my favorite quote!  LOVE LOVE LOVE  This is going up on the living room wall where everyone can see  Cheesy

The "boring" package is the glass for the frame.  This is beyond awesome!

Everything unwrapped and piled together

This was such a great swap.  I would love to do another round!

My awesome, talented partner is none other than...

I love everything!  Thank you so much for making a great package!
I hope school is going well.  If your schedule is anything like mine you're probably dealing with finals about now.  Good luck!

Cheesy

Sorry squire_inaria!  I had two out of town interviews and a very looooong day at work just the past few days.  Finally have a chance to post!

You did an amazing job, I love everything.  Smiley

The wallet is going with me to Europe.  Just big enough to hold my passport nicely.  Smiley

The windchimes are going up on my new porch when I move!  Absolutely beautiful and they sound great.
  bad shot of it hanging

  the top

laying down, but much clearer  Smiley

Last but not least, the awesome peacock himself!  Cheesy  I'm going to have to hide him from the peacock feather eating cat though

Sorry it took so long to post.  I love how everything turned out.  Smiley

Received from StrawberryJeli today!
I have to say sometimes small packages carry AMAZING results!  Cheesy  Looked in my mail box to find a largish envelope, totally not thinking about the swap.  lol  I open it to find a great surprise waiting for me inside.

Coasters:
Jareth, Ludo, Sir Didymus and of course the ball!  Smiley

Sketchbook:
The perfect size for a friendly worm  Smiley

Plaque:
This is so going up next to my movie poster!  All I can say is poor Toby might have to try a lot harder if I met face to face with this Goblin King.  lol

I love everything.  Thanks again StrawberryJeli

4  Re: 1 Dotee, I ATC and 4 Inchies Gallery Send out Feb. 14, 2011 in The Swap Gallery by lindzyt on: February 21, 2011 05:36:32 PM
For llisaredd and Smmarrt, a better (sorta) pic of the dotee faces  Smiley
It's actually white polymer clay, fired and painted with a little watercolor.  I'm actually surprised the color stayed on as well as it did.  I really liked the way it looked plain white so I stopped with just the highlights.
I'm so glad you like them!  Smiley

My first venture out the door in a few days (stupid flu!) and I find not one, but all three packages waiting for me at the post office  Cheesy  AWESOME!  I love all three, have to find a good place to hang / display everything.  My partners did an awesome job.
I have to say though, it's very strange how sometimes great minds think!  lol

From llisaredd:
A peacock themed package  Cheesy

and the tail!

These are great.  You are such a talented artist too!  Smiley  Love, love, love it all.  Perfect additions to my growing peacock collection!  Cheesy

------------------

From amethyst6:

Italian themed inchies!  Woohoo!   And a dotee that looks like a matryoshka with rubber ducks.  My bathroom is done all in rubber ducks, I love it!

These will have to go in a good frame in my kitchen  Smiley  (Sorry the pic is hard to see, couldn't turn off the flash and with an excited puppy running around I didn't want to take them out of the bag just yet)

I don't have a big pic of the ATC.  It's the Leaning Tower of Pisa with a mask and a bottle of wine.  Smiley

Things like this make me really want to learn how to crochet.  Isn't it beautiful?  Smiley
-------------------

From Smmarrt
How did you know???  One of my favorite authors in Roald Dahl, and the Gene Wilder Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of those movies that I just can't pass up when it's on tv.  Cheesy

Inside it just gets better!

Doctor Who inchies!  Even better, my most favoritest doctor - John Pertwee!!!!  Cheesy   Plus a Dahl double sided inchie.  A Paris inchie (I get to go in May!) and an Omaha inchie.  This is so awesome

and the ATC.  Cheesy

Smmarrt you totally hit it to the moon!  Cheesy

I love all my new dotees and inchies and ATC's.  This was my first time making them, so a bit of a challenge, but the exchange totally made it fun.  I hope you like yours just as much ladies!  Cheesy
Please excuse me while I go squeee some more  lol

Received from Bobomom today!  She is WAY ahead of me, but I promise crafty goodness in return.  Smiley

Toulouse actually went to the post office with me, so it was even harder to wait till we got home to open the box.  Wow!  Everything was wrapped up nice, with packages for each of the fuzzies.  Sadly my computer decided to eat the pictures I took, so no action shots of Toulouse opening his package.  Sad  Everything had cute tags so I knew exactly who has what.

Everything for the two cats and the puppy, and the fuzzie mommy!  Smiley

Oakley got a blanket that says Feed Me.  Perfect for my little pig cat!  Ebby has a crinkle fish and jingle toys.  She's already batting them around the floor when Toulouse isn't investigating.  Had a great shot of Oakley sitting on her blanket talking to me (darn computer!)

Ebby with her fish

Toulouse has two new toys.  He loves the bunny!  An awesome bandanna, complete with artwork by his namesake, that he's already wearing.  Smiley

Modeling (or asking why I need to take more pictures? Geez mom!  lol)

And for me!  I love it!  When we move in April this will be one of the first things to go on the wall.  Hard to see in this picture, but everybody has an initial and a little something.  It all fits them perfectly.  Smiley

Perfect box  Smiley  I love doing swaps and it's boxes like this that make it so much fun.
Thanks Bobomom!

Yeah!  I went to the post office today and found a box waiting for me!
Have to show the awesomeness sent to me by leashhh  Cheesy
Everything was wrapped up cute, but I didn't think to get a picture of it.

The whole package

The warm drink portion of the package.  Some very yummy hot chocolate and chocolate spoons!  Smiley  Plus, a reusable cup!  I've been drooling over one just like this for a while now.  How did you know?  Cheesy

Not one, but two mug cozies!  The colors don't show up quite right, it's purple and a beautiful brown.  Complete with visual instructions  lol

And the awesome scarf!  I can't wait to wear this one out.  Smiley

Action shot!  (I'm not a big one for getting my picture taken, but that's how much I love this scarf!)

I loved this swap.  So much fun, and warm goodness!  Smiley

Went to the post office today and found a box with my name on it!  Cheesy  Inside was an AWESOME little peacock from aecharjay!

Here's the little guy with the note Smiley

Just the peacock

Close-up of his feathers.  I think these totally make him complete.   (I definitely appreciate all the blanket stitches! Smiley  With all this work I'm sure you are really good now aecharjay!  lol)

And of course, little Miss Ebby wouldn't move when I was taking pictures, so here she is just waking up from her nap to see what all the fuss is about.

LOVE IT!
I hope yours shows up soon  Smiley
Thank you so much!

9  canvas rug in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by lindzyt on: January 17, 2011 09:16:34 PM
I wasn't quite sure where to post this, since technically it's a decorative type object (aka a rug) but it's done on canvas.
Made it a while back as an example for a class on how to do dropcloth painting.  I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out.  I'm obsessed with trompe l'oeil, so I every once in a while I make my poor attempt at it.  This is the result.  Smiley

Because it's just a sample piece, it's fairly small.  I don't have the exact measurements, but it was just under 11x14.  I don't have the rug anymore, but I want to try it again.  See if I can improve the image some.  Smiley

The flash washed out some of the color.  The border is a dark navy, and the feathers are pretty close to the true colors of a peacock feather.  The blue and gold made a nice contrast to each other.  I wish I had thought to get better pics before giving this one up!

10  Re: Pet Lovers Swap R2 (Signups 12/31-1/14 Sendouts 3/7) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by lindzyt on: January 10, 2011 08:01:28 PM
OK. I've been caught up in seeing everybody's fuzzy babies, so it's my turn.  Smiley  I'll be filling out my questionnaire tonight, I'm sure the puppy would appreciate something coming in the mail for him for a change.  Smiley
Now to show off my fuzzies!

Toulouse (named for Toulouse Lautrec) my min pin / chihuahua mix puppy.  Not so much a puppy now that he's coming up on two years old, but he's still my little man.  Smiley

Oakley is my cranky old lady at 7 years old.  She's a Russian Blue, and there's days she won't let you forget it!

Ebby my elegant little lap leach.  If you're a still warm body, Ebby is your best friend.  She's 4 now, but still mostly looks like a kitten.

I have finch, goldfish and a bullfrog too but for some odd reason they don't appreciate toys as much as the fuzzies!

Oh, and my last pic.  Toulouse again, but I have to show it.  My little puppy has the weirdest sleeping positions I have ever seen for any dog.

Sleeping with his favorite bunny (which I've had to replace twice now,  SOMEBODY likes to chew ears off)

Time to fill out the questionnaire and officially join!  Smiley
