1  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: (?) Q: Stenciling using bleach? on: May 26, 2011 11:37:07 AM
Use dish washer detergent gel that has bleach in it.  It has a consistency of paint and so you just thinly tap it on with a flat stenciling brush and let it dry.  You can also by special bleach thickener so you can make your own.
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Tips for Creative Color Theory & Dyeing Roving? on: May 26, 2011 11:31:39 AM
This may sound like a little bit of cheating but I have a home decorating color book, which gives examples of good color combos, and I use that as a starting point and play with different hues and tones.
3  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: "Aged" Fabric (for copycat Anthropologie skirt) on: May 26, 2011 11:29:16 AM
If you have a thread from the material you can burn it and if it makes a little hard bead on the end it is acrylic.

look on dharmatrading.com which has some dye removers.  If it was industrially dyed it will be really hard to get out.  I also agree with doing a swatch test.  You could try bleach and see if it takes anything out, and the fabric will be fine as long as you wash it out and don't let it sit longer than it needs to (I bleach dyed cotton fabric all the time and have never had a problem).
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / Re: ink for printing onto fabric on: February 12, 2011 02:10:55 PM
you can buy thickener for the paint, try dhramatrading.com
6  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: how can I resist dye without using wax/batik? I'm dyeing with tea.. on: November 16, 2010 12:16:45 PM
You can try flour and water.  Mix it until its thick enough that you can put it on the fabric without running and wait for it to dry.  Its water soluble so submerge.  You can also look into discharging (dyeing and then using bleach on it) with things like gel dishwasher detergent with bleach in it.  You could also order some non wax resists, i know dharmatrading.com

Here is my box (+1) of awesomeness from GammyKatie.  She couldn't have done a better job.  It was so amazing and now I have lots of gifts for people.

pic of everything!!!!!!!

Cat toys with catnip.  The second I opened the box my cats were trying to get to them.

Belt that holds a water bottle and a first aid kit.  This is for my best friend who loves to hike.

Cutest cards ever and the trees are embroidered.

Beautiful scarves for my sister.

Potholders/oven mitts for my mom.  So envious of the sewing skills.

Soap earrings, and an ornament.  My favorite color is red so I love them.  The owl earrings are so adorable.

Pics for my bfs office.  He hasn't put anything in his office and it is so bare so these are perfect.  They are of his favorite games.  The top one is Mega Man and the bottom is Legend of Zelda.

Amazing wood burned box.  Love, love love.

And everything was wrapped so nicely in drawstring bags!!!

Thanks so muck again!!!!!!!!

PS The pick scarf is crocheted and the other is knit
