That is amazing! Makes me wish that I had gone into more detail in my crochet lessons.

Very pretty. I didn't know that mineral oil would keep the items preserved, or do you add something, like a drop of alcohol?

(By the way, we're actually not allowed to post links to our stores or talk about selling our wares in posts, but signature links are fine. )

Ah. Thanks. I had wondered about that, but I couldn't seem to find anything to confirm it. Perhaps I was looking the wrong places? Anyway, I went back and modified the post to correct that.

I haven't added anything to the bottle besides the mineral oil, and the items inside seem to be holding up just fine. Most of these items were dried already, anyway. They've been sitting here for over a month now, and still look great (I took these pictures just a couple of days ago).

Flower petals, however, do not hold up so well. I like your suggestion about the alcohol; perhaps I can try that next time? I'm a little unsure as to what to do about preserving things in the bottles like that. Especially things that haven't been dried already.

At least I finally found a glue that is actually watertight...

I can see why the poppy is your favorite. You did an amazing job on it.

The bird pendant is very nice, but I have to admit: I'm a sucker for leaves, so my attention was immediately drawn to that clasp.

It's a very pretty clasp.

oh! I like. opulent & rich looking.

Excatly.  I guess Isabel is a fitting name.  Kinda make me think "Queen Isabella."  Sorta Spanish/Moroccan influence.

Definitely. I had the same thoughts. Very nice. I just wish the pictures were slightly larger so we could get a bit more detail.

I love the color-rainbow change in this. The way it goes from one color to the next and through different shades. I haven't seen many things do that, and I really like it! You did a great job choosing the accent beads to go along, as well. They fit well and don't distract from the overall composition.

It certainly deserves the recognition it's getting, as do you!

Very pretty. I can see why you would love to wear it so much. It's gorgeous and unique.
238  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Little Mushroom Earrings on: January 11, 2009 07:02:43 PM
Hehe. My first thought was that they looked like mini lamps rather than mushrooms. But I certainly see the mushroom in them as well.

Very nice. Simplistic and elegant at the same time.

Well, this is my first post here. A friend of mine suggested that I create an account here as well.

Which I rather like; it'll give me a chance to really connect with others who can help the creative process, and likewise I can help them.

So... here goes. My first post.

This is one of my most recent bottle pendants that I have finished.

This bottle is themed around love and the winter season.

It contains a leaf of dried mistletoe, some dried cranberry, and a sprig of a pine tree. I have then filled the bottle with mineral oil and sealed the cork in.

Both mistletoe and pine trees are evergreens and are known for their green color even in the heart of winter, and therefore are often seen as symbols of eternity. And of course, everyone knows about kissing under the mistletoe...

This bottle has been wire-wrapped for hanging convenience.
