I will experiment with different means of cutting the mats to find out what works well.

I did place some of them into a geometric shape as you suggested and it did look cool. That may work into something I can use somewhere down the line.

I saw a really cute hair barrette done with guitar picks in a flower shape on this site... maybe you could do something similar with the fake nails?

I work in an assisted living facility doing the crafts with elderly and have a very limited budget at work....

I save everything I can find that we could possibly use...

My room mate brought home hundreds (yes, hundreds) of samples of matting (for framing things)... every color and texture available.... yet no two are alike.

They are in a "L" shape.... right angle. They are all the same size... about 2" wide.

I am stumped.
