1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / sock creatures on: June 14, 2006 05:39:55 PM
I made these for the "Send us yer bits" swap where I got a parcel full of stuff and had to create from it. I got some excellent socks and this is what 2 pairs became.
Mils (pics are unfortuately blurry) He was sewn entirely by hand, that was a killer.

Gary

I kinda wanted to keep this one.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / The Knitting Room on: May 17, 2006 12:42:32 AM
"The Knitting Room (a Strathcare initiative) is an imaginative, collaborative project centred around older members of the Tasmanian community (many of whom live in aged care homes) magically conjured from threads and fibre. The projects creative processes harnessed their traditional skills of knitting, crocheting, weaving and stitching to fashion part of a 1950's home.

I had the pleasure of going and seeing this today and although taking photos was not allowed, luckily I managed to get permission to take a few to share (thanks to Robyn who after I explained craftster to her allowed me to do so). It was amazing to see, I wanted to touch everything.

My slightly blurry, hastily taken photos don't do it all the justice it deserves. Smiley
(If I have posted this in the wrong place I am sorry)

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I learned to knit (and use circular needles and dpns all in one go!) on: April 14, 2006 03:52:37 AM
I am not much of a scarf wearer and it's getting cold here so I figured I'd just have a go at a hat.
I looked at a few roll brim hat patterns, went and bought circular neeldles and dpns and I was off.
It wasn't as hard as I had thought knitting was, although my hands are a bit sore now  Wink
(pics are a bit average but I couldn't wait for daylight to show off, I feel awful clever now Smiley )

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / now I'm ready on: March 17, 2006 06:37:24 PM
My friend is pregnant and her baby was due last weekend, I was running hopelessly behind and thought I'd never get finished in time but thankfully her baby helped me out, he's still hanging in there Wink
Last night I got it finished, I've never crocheted anything so monotonous in my life and it's only baby sized!!!
I had best go and see her and let the little guy know that I am done and it's OK to come out now Grin

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / stupid sock creature on: February 18, 2006 05:28:38 AM

It turned out wackier that I expected but that's the appeal.  Grin
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / knitting project bag on: February 12, 2006 04:51:16 AM
I lined it with a satin material so the yarn can slip out easily  Grin

And I put in a little side pocket for knitting needles.

I really hope it is OK, I am no knitter.  Grin
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / scarf and armwarmers for my penpal *img heavy* on: December 06, 2005 06:49:23 PM
I made the armwarmers using my own wacky pattern but I made them in a spiral instead of in rounds..

I forgot to take pics of the scarf so I got her to send me some, she's lookin pretty good... Wink

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Look what I got!!! on: October 16, 2005 01:29:46 AM
I got a call from a friend this morning and he said "You should come round to my parents place, my Mother has been spring cleaning, there's a few skeins of wool for you if you are interested"
A FEW!?!?!?!?!?!?! Shocked

It filled 10 shopping bags, I nearly fell over.
Like I need more yarn!!! Roll Eyes
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / I quit smoking and forgot how to crochet! on: September 28, 2005 03:55:18 AM
I am now almost at the end of my second day of not smoking and I thought
"I know, I'll crochet something, anything to get my mind off the cigs"
So I sat with a ball of yarn and a hook and couldn't for the life of me remember how to start. I actually had to go and find a book with instructions!!!
I feel a bit silly, it came back to me real quick but I felt so dumb and worryingly confused for a few minutes there.
Just thought I'd share it Wink
