1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / mini messenger bag-kid size on: February 18, 2009 11:15:08 PM
Here is a little messenger style bag I made for my granddaughter to carry on Saturday shopping trips. I used the free pattern from All People Quilts.  I made a little wallet for her too, just rag edged it and added a bow.

Also, I finally got a tutorial posted on my blog for the valentine tote bag I posted here a while back if you want to check it out.

I would like to see a tute, that looks so comfy and cute too. My granddaughter loves new clothes, this would be perfect for something quick and cheap to whip up for her.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Batik Bag with a Bow on: January 27, 2009 11:29:58 PM
I saw this pattern in the quilt shop and of course was too cheap to buy it (it was amy butler) so I took the measurements of the bag and finally tried it out today. Not sure why I did it in the batik, but I really liked the earth tones. It is big, 17" wide X 14" high, with a long drop on the straps.

I am thinking about doing it with a pleat in the center next time and maybe a button.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / ISO: sling bag pattern with tie straps on: January 25, 2009 11:18:45 PM
I am looking for a tute or pattern for a sling style hobo bag with two long straps that tie in a knot on top. Hope I am explaining this right.

Something like this but the bag is more shallow and the straps are separate and tie in a knot.

If you know of any freebie patterns that would help. thanks!

HaHa! I know what you mean. Picking out the photos is so hard for me. One suggestion, put perfection aside and just go for it! You have a nice start anyway, and I am sure it will turn out perfect if you just let it flow.

It is a very sweet book, I am sure they will love it. I agree about the gem, maybe a bit smaller or not at all. I think I would use the fancy font on some of the sidebars but maybe something elegant but easier to read on the longer sentiments. Congrats on your marriage too!

Definitely not too much embroidery. I looks well loved, and the size looks nice too. Hand embroidery is on my 2009 to do list, things I want to learn.

I have a detailed and pretty simple tutorial on my blog for charm pack rag totes, if you want to check it out. I like using charm packs for variety but you can cut the squares from FQs or yardage too.
