1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / baby quilt - 1930s feedsack 9-patch on: September 27, 2005 05:27:17 AM
I have just finished my *first* quilt. I made it for friends expecting their first baby... of course he was born early so I wasn't finished in time!

I'd love any feedback from veteran quilters or anyone with a creative eye!

The blocks are 4 1/2 inches finished width
Quilted by hand
Mitered corners binding
Back side is flannel to be nice and cozy for the baby
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Hand-spun Tibetan Cashmere on: September 26, 2005 09:17:57 PM
I recently returned from a trip in Asia and have some lovely off-white hand-spun cashmere just waiting to become something beautiful. I was thinking 'lady mitts', but does anyone have any other ideas/patterns.

4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Calling all pressure cooker experts! on: November 28, 2004 09:34:13 AM
Hi Craftsters!

I am leaving for Nepal in less than a month - and I will soon be using a pressure cooker as my primary method of cooking... Problem is - I'VE NEVER USED ONE!?! Any suggestions for comparisons to stove-top cooking? Good links/books to reference before I head off?

Any help - or especially recipes (even if I have to change around the ingredients in the end) - would be wonderful!
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Strap for binoculars on: November 21, 2004 12:23:23 PM
Hi Craftsters,
My sister is starting a project for her boyfriend, and I thought I'd enlist your help...

She is planning to cross-stitch a strap for binoculars, using leather straps to attach the double sided, cross-stiched portion to the binoculars. Here are the questions:

1. Any ideas on how to attach the leather to the cross-stitched piece?
2. What type of material would be best? i.e. durable, easy to stitch on, etc.
3. Creative ideas for the pattern on the strap?

Thanks bunches Smiley
