I saw this at the Del Mar fair!! I thought it was great! It makes me VERY happy to know a fellow craftster did it Cheesy

Oh wow! That's so awesome!! I'm glad someone was able to admire it in person! I just picked it up today along with my ribbon...have a special place on the wall for it!

Thanks so much for all the support and kudos from everyone! I love you all here on Craftster!!

WOW, this looks really difficult!! It's so hard to make those knots look so even.  Beautifully done!!!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / UPDATE: Old School Video Game Sampler on: June 12, 2011 05:59:47 PM
Here's a quick update on the Old School Video Game Sampler that I posted a few weeks ago (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=381465.0) that I entered into the County Fair this year.

I went to the fair yesterday to see the other exhibitors' work, and to check on my piece, not expecting to win.  But much to my surprise, I won SECOND PLACE in my class!!! I was so stoked as this was not only my first time entering the needlepoint division of the Fair, but it was also my first major cross stitch project! Guess I won on "Syle" points! Smiley

Thanks everyone for all your support on Craftster, especially through my "syle" fiasco! Smiley

I LOVE IT!! As an engineer, I think my coworkers would LOVE this too!! From far away, it looks just like a sampler... but close up it reveals its geeky goodness! Smiley Making a mental note for the future!

Thanks for your encouragement everyone! Yes, I will definitely play off the "Syle."  After all, isn't the Sci-Fi channel now the "Syfy" channel?? I'll keep you posted on the results!!

Wow the craftsmanship of this piece is amazing! Mine gets all knotted in the back and looks like a total mess, but yours is spotless!!! I thought this was a photo when I first saw it.  You should totally enter it into a competition!!

How many bazillion hours did you spend on this? So rad!

@whateverjames - thanks so much for your kind words.  This was actually my first big project.  I had done a couple of small cross stitch projects before this, but no actual practice for this one.   I sort of just dove into it! Smiley

@ChaniLM - OMG!!!!! I can't believe I wrote "SYLE!" Holy crap!!! I didn't notice it at all until you just pointed it out! And neither did any of the other people who looked at it!  My hubby and I just had a belly laugh at this major error... my goodness.  And he kept joking as I was making this that it would be hilarious if I accidentally misspelled something!!

Maybe that's why the blue hairs were frowning!!! Shocked

DOH!!!!!!!!!
