1081  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 44 on: March 15, 2009 09:42:59 AM
I claim phoenixfiredesigns for "Anything with a phoenix on it".

1st claim this round

List in a few...

I am an 18 year old university student who lives in Southern Ontario, Canada. My life pretty much revolved around “Twilight” (ahem... Team Edward). I am in love with vampires (obviously), monsters, aliens, robots, bats and so forth. I pretty much love any colour but red and I am not so hot on huge amount of black (unless in the case of bats), though my favourite colour is royal purple (I googled it, it exists). I love making shirts and so forth (and my making I mean making designs). So in the last OWS I had a lot of non-functional things, so this swap I have decided to (mostly) focus on the ***functional***, as right now they are mainly what I am in need of...

Crafts:

An owl purse***: I would love one similar to either of these (thoug not pink please): http://www.wists.com/averyg/6ecb671696f5cb64f55fb80ed46b631b?offset=40 OR http://www.wists.com/averyg/0596239a67762eef0b3cc18a004f93c6?offset=40.

Bat Purse***: A purse/bag thing-ish thing similar to this little bat: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=13818003

Wallet***: I would love a wallet... I always seem to get hand-me-ups from my little sister and I think that it is time that I get my own. I would love a “pocket wallet” (not a long skinny girl one), with a little pouch for change, if possible. I have some inspiration ideas on my Wist so feel free to check them out. Also, feel free to go crazy with the fabric, I love animals, bright colours, and so forth (anything but white please).

Change Purse***: I would also really like a little change purse somewhat inspired by these little guys: http://www.wists.com/averyg/5d2ef5af24981d24cb6cd01f56d429d7?offset=0 OR http://www.wists.com/averyg/7dccce7904a140b0bffdd858ff796bde?offset=0 OR http://www.wists.com/averyg/7dccce7904a140b0bffdd858ff796bde?offset=0 (This doesn’t have to be a frog by any means, any animal would make me happy)

Skirt: I would love a simple jersey or cotton skirt like one of either of these http://www.wists.com/averyg/9287dfbd67f01bc04e87dfc9b9a93611?offset=0 OR http://www.wists.com/averyg/e9ee1652ef9d36e71f8e5897dd681378?offset=0. I am really, really little so PM me for measurements.

Amigurumi: I have quite a few different ideas throughout my Wist and I would love to receive one of the little guys... from Twilight-inspired to dragons to fairies and so forth (most are on the last 2 pages on my Wist).

Knitted Animals: I would love any of these little creatures found here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=133997.0

Something Functional that is Twilight inspired: I have quite a few Twilight things on my Wist, so feel free to check them out.

Poppet: I would love another poppet to add to my little collection (thanks to Silverwing for my first), mermaid, fairy, goblin, elf, anything fantasy like. Check out my Wist for inspiration!

Pretty much anything inspired by my Wist!

Supplies:

A 4 or 7 inch tall white, black Munny. You can find them here: http://www.kidrobot.com/products.cfm?OF11=PROMO7

Poppet-making kit (eyes, alova suede fabric in tan, joints, whatever would aid me in creating my first poppet!)

Fabric! I would love anything alien, monster, animal, owl, robot-like (I just bought my first ‘big girl’ sewing machine). Here is some inspiration: http://www.wists.com/averyg/3c146f0c2c6dd3d3d657418adb878661?offset=0

So today I got my first ever Craftster Swap package and I must say that I was completely blown away. I was claimed by Silverwing (THANK YOU SO MUCH) for a poppet... and she is completely beautiful! We haven't picked a name  for her yet... but it is only a matter of time. Ugh... I don't even know what to say.. She is beautiful (wait... I already said that), but she really is!

Anyways, I cannot thank Silverwing enough for her. Silverwing claimed me for a poppet (I was open to anything fantasy like, though particularily fairies) and Silverwing was so awesome and included all of my favourite colours and everything... and I guess, drum roll please...

Here she is (picture heavy, I know, but like I said, she is beautiful!)...
(The pics are kinda blurry and they do not do her justice, anyways)...

And the back detail...

She is everything that i have ever wanted in a poppet (including the tail)... and like I said,
THANK YOU SO MUCH SILVERWING!!!

I sent animegirlie an art nouveau inspired shirt... She gots it a week-ish ago. I remembered (finally this time) to take a few pictures before I packed it away to be shipped to sunny California. Unfortunently I took the pictures on my cell phone so they are not the best quality, so hopefully she can post some better, perhaps action shots...

She said that she liked swirly, curly designs, and she also liked floral designs, so I tried to incorporate everything into it.

She is amazing!
Just wondering... does the Prismacolour wipe/ wear off? Or did you spray it with something or something?
Really great job and awesome first post!

They are really cute! They remind me of Yeti... and no worries about the links, it takes awhile to get used to playing around here on Craftster. If you go to "My Craftster" and go to "My Picture Hosting" you can upload pictures, later when you want to put pictures in your completed project, you can go back to your uploaded picture, under the picture it says copy and paste this link into your post, copy and paste it, and TA-DA! Your picture will be in your post... Hopefully that helps and doesn't make you more confused...
Anyways, I really like your little guys...

In the OWS43  I was claimed for a poppet and I specified I wanted a mermaid, fairy, or something of the sort... If mine is a mermaid and if she looks half as beautiful as yours, I will be so happy.
Amazing job!

1090  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Girl in a Hijab Oil Painting on: February 26, 2009 04:07:01 PM
you can get your acrylics to act more like oil by adding retarding medium to them. I like the way you handled her eyes. For where cloth covers forms (like her nose)think of the form (nose) still being there, but the mask is just covering it. As is her nose stops where the fabric starts.

I tried retarder for my last art project (not this painting)... It really didn't do anything for me, in some instances I actually had more retarder than paint, and nope, no luck whatsoever. It is hard to see in the picture taken, but I did attempt to create the shape of her nose covered by the cloth, but I understand that it is not noticeable. This oil painting is one of my favourites regardless... and I was pretty happy with it, being as it was one of my first in oils.
