I gave my papasan a makeover! I used all cotton scraps and had no real plan. The smallest block is less than 1"x1" and the largest is about 8"x4". I gave it a pocket back that I stitched closed with big stitches for now so I can take it off to clean it. I will probably give it buttons and buttonholes on the backside someday, but I was just too excited to test it out
Much more eye-catching than the boring black cushion it has had for the last 10 yrs! This is my first "Home Sweet Home" post, I'd love to hear what you think!
So I usually stick with sewing, but I broke my machine. I can't not make things, so I whipped up this little guy! I think he needs a blue hoodie then I'm sending him off to a friend's kid in Sheboygan. I made up the pattern as I went along, so I'd love to hear what you think! Thanks for looking!
I've been eyeing this fabric FOREVER and finally picked some up! I've been craving a bag that wasn't messenger style since that's all I own these days. I made this without a pattern, so I'm so glad it turned out exactly like the idea in my head! I'd love to hear what you think!
It is fully lined with natural cotton canvas, with a hidden flap inside for closure. I'm lovin the knotted strap and antiqued brass hardware too. I'm also officially obsessed with fabric buttons now.
I got a new book binder for my birthday! I made a couple fabric covers to test out and ways of attaching them. I really like the look of them! I need to come up with some new ways to attach the cover, any ideas?
I usually stick with fabric... this is my first post in this section so be kind
I got a book binder for my birthday and I love it! I've been cutting up everything cardboard that I can find and a heck of a lot of paper! I found some great album covers to use at the thrift store - one had a bunch of silhouettes of a guy jumping around in a field with a guitar all over the back - so weird, so cool.
Inspired and made for a friend of mine for Bonnaroo! (Yes we are very early... we are trying to rush summer here lol) She requested a medium size messenger bag that was bright and fun, with inner pockets and a secret pocket, that zips so she won't lose anything. So, I put in a real cool secret pocket and 2 card pockets. I used tiny split rings and big silver rings to make the zipper super quick and easy to open. I really wanted to keep the blue one, but that's the one she chose... oh well, that's who it's supposed to be for... I'm still not over it though!
I made this for a friend of mine. She wanted a wallet similar to the other wallets I've been making, but she wanted it to hold her checkbook as well. It has a pocket to hold her checkbook, plus 5 card pockets. It has a long strap that wraps all the way around and closes with a magnet snap. I used 8 different fabrics and stitched all the edges with bright pink thread. I think it turned out nice, and really fun!
So I was wandering through JoAnn's one day and found a Locker Hook. It looked like a giant sewing needle with a crochet hook on the end. 2 of my very favorite things! I asked a couple people if they knew what you do with it. No one did. So of course, I bought it! Took it home and googled it. SO EASY! Unfortunately they are pricey to make, so this is my last one. I think this is #6!
I'm a first-timer here in the Home Sweet Home forum - I'd lvoe to hear what you think!
I've seen so many people wearing these cute little vests. Everytime I go try one on I'm reminded how freakishly long my torso is, and they never fit right. So I decided I had to make my own. I'm cheap so I don't buy patterns (they always need to be majorly altered anyway), I just make them myself instead. This time I used a $2 Tshirt that had a vest attached, and wrote all over it, then cut it up, made stiffer paper pattern pieces, and got to work! It also had to have a racerback since that's my fave!
I used a lightweight brown fabric, lined with a lightweight natural colored duck cloth (it's all I had). I had 3 awesome buttons that remind me of little, round slices of bread that worked out perfectly with this! The vest is really too tight for me. I somehow managed to get it buttoned, I just can't breathe in it. When I try #2 I'm so stealing these buttons back for that one. If anyone's seen these 'bread buttons' I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me where! I want more!!
It's been a good long time since I posted anything in the Clothing Forum (I used to only post in Clothing with my old Craftster name), I'd love to hear what you think!
