1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help on what machine I should buy on: January 19, 2009 06:22:39 PM
I currently have a Singer Simple that I use to make purses and bags.  I haven't got the guts yet to try to make clothes.  After finding this site I realized that the old machines are better than the current plastic ones.  I've had a Kenmore 117.959 for about 10 years but never really used it to make anything because I thought it was old and a newer machine would work better. ... guess I was wrong after reading stuff from this site.  The Kenmore seems to work good, I just have to figure out all the tension and stuff.  I've recently found at some thrift stores a couple old ones I'm thinking about buying but I don't know anything about them.  One is a Singer Graduate 714 and they are selling it for $25-30.  The other is a Singer Touch tronic 2000 and that is selling for $25.00. Should I stick with the Kenmore or buy one of the others?

or should I keep looking for something better than the ones listed above?

Any help would be great.
