81  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Pillowcase Nightgown on: June 10, 2011 05:51:57 PM

I made this adorable nightgown from a tutorial over at Gingercake. It was super easy and turns out great. She only has it available in a 4T, but it's just a matter of resizing the pattern pieces. I left it the same because my daughters 4, however, she's small for her age, so it turned out a tiny bit large.

You can't see it in the picture (and honestly you can't really see it unless you're looking really closely in real life) but there are darker pink vertical stripes. Also there are darker pink flowers on the ruffle. (The best part about this is that the ruffle was already a part of the pillow case so I didn't have to do anything.)

In her tutorial she used a button closer, but she suggested also using ties if you preferred. I just happened to have pink bias tape in my stash, so I chose that route for binding the neck and the back and just let it go out to be ties. All I had to buy to make this adorable nightgown was the pillowcase which I got at the thrift store for 99 cents. Best 99 cents I ever spent!
82  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Teddy Bear on: May 31, 2011 09:45:54 PM

I used the Funky Friends Factory Honey the Teddy Bear to make this little guy. He's going to be a present for my son who is turning 1. Because of this I opted not to give him the safety eyes, or button eyes, the pattern called for. I also didn't give him a nose, because I didn't give him eyes. I kind of like the look though.

83  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Teal and Purple Mermaid Poppet. on: May 27, 2011 10:40:45 AM
I made this mermaid for puamelia in the Mini Poppet swap.

AlwaysInspired gave me some great information on how to go about making a mermaid. For the shape of her tail I actually took the leg pattern that inez used and then shared for her contortionist poppet Gloria. I just widened it at parts and added a fin instead of a foot at the bottom.

Her hair is Yarn Bee's Infatuation in the Ocean colorway and is amazingly soft. You could sit and stroke it all day. It does shed a little though.

When I had finished her body I thought she needed a little something, so I added seed beads to the bottom of her tail.

Her top is just a rectangle that I scrunched in the middle and then sewed over to keep it gathered in. In the back it is done up corset style.

And how could she not have a necklace?  Also you can see a closer shot of her top from the front.

She was pretty much done when I thought she was looking a little plain in the belly area so I added a belt. (It's non-removable.)

I love how she turned out and was so sad to see her go, as was my four year old daughter. She has consoled herself, however, by telling me I can just make her a pink one instead!
84  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Cotton Candy Skirt on: May 16, 2011 01:53:18 PM
I just made the Cotton Candy Skirt from Simple Simon & Company. It's super simple and super adorable!

85  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Massive inchie project help on: May 10, 2011 01:25:22 PM
I wanted to make a mosaic of Link from The Legend of Zelda games and I wanted the "tiles" to actually be inchies. Has anyone ever done anything like this and will it work? I was thinking of having each inchie be Legend of Zelda themed, but I'm not sure how it will look if the background is the color needed for the overall picture with a smaller picture on it not in those colors.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.
86  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Phoenix Ami on: April 29, 2011 03:47:17 PM

I made this as an accessory in the Plethora of Poppets swap. It was a companion for a fire elf.

The body, beak, and wings are from this turkey pattern.

The tail are two paisley shapes with the orange yarn and red fun fur.
87  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Shawl for a Doll on: April 29, 2011 03:41:49 PM

With the exception of basic knitted rectangles that I made several years ago, this is the first thing I've knitted.

I made it as part of an outfit for a poppet. It is from The Little Lady Shawl pattern on Ravelry.

I didn't have the size of needles it called for so I used 2 sizes up. I also didn't complete the pattern, because it would have been too large.
88  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Fire Elf Poppet on: April 29, 2011 03:28:30 PM
I made this poppet for the Plethora of Poppets Swap. I named her Sienna, but I believe her name has been changed to Ember Sienna. Two of my partner's favorite colors are red and orange so I couldn't resist a fire theme.

She has gold Suncatcher eyes and here eyelids are golden yellow felt. Her hair is Lion Brand Holiday Homespun in a Burgundy with Gold thread alternated with I Love This Yarn in a rusty color that had been spit in two to make it curl.

This is her elf outfit. It has a bit of red tulle at the top of the bodice. Both the bodice and the skirt lace up at the back with red ribbon. She also has a needle tatted belt.

This is her alternate outfit. I took the 50s style halter dress bodice and added a circle skirt to it. She also has a knitted shawl held shut with a shawl pin that can be worn as earrings by her owner when the poppet is not using it.

This picture just shows the bustle that I added to the back of the dress.
89  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Pink and Purple Diaper Cake on: April 27, 2011 03:15:23 PM

My friend is pregnant with her 5th baby and I was invited to a shower for her. The invitation said she wanted things like soaps, diapers etc.

As a mom of three myself I know all about the importance of diapers, but I didn't want to just give her a package (or two) of diapers. The crafty person inside of me would not allow it.

I got the style idea from Homemade By Jill
90  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Swamp Yarn on: April 27, 2011 03:10:16 PM

I spun up this yarn a few weeks ago. It was supposed to be for a poppet I was working on, but the colors didn't work out the way I wanted. The roving was called Dragons Breath, but my husband and I thought it looked more like swamp witch hair. (I'll probably use it for that someday down the road).

It was BFL and I found it spun up a lot easier than the merino I tried previously.
