11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Ballerina Piggy on: April 26, 2016 11:45:30 AM

My daughter is obsessed with pigs and with ballet. So when her birthday came up, I decided to make her a Ballerina Pig! The pig pattern is from Dolls and Daydreams (as are the ballet shoes she is wearing).  I shrunk the pattern down to about 75% because I wanted to the pig to be a bit smaller than the original pattern.

Here is another picture to show off her shoes better.

I usually have "low motivation" days too when it comes to cleaning. But it looks like you were pretty busy to me. Those tops are great.

Here's the quilt I finally finished. Its thread is here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=447036.0

14  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / HST Quilt on: April 23, 2016 07:03:19 AM
Two years or so ago I came across this HST quilt tutorial.  I loved everything about it. The colors she chose and the pattern the the blocks made. Luckily, I had an almost two year old who loves the color pink. So I went shopping, cut out my fabric, and put together the top. And that is as far as I got.

Two years later with the two year old's 4th birthday fast approaching, I decided I had better finally get around to finishing it. And it turns out she loves it. She told me it is her favorite blanket. So perhaps waiting was a good thing.

(I had planned to bind the quilt in grey, but somewhere along the line I misplaced or used the grey I had bought. So I ended up piecing the binding together with left over fabric from the top.)

April 18th Check In

I'm not currently working on anything but I did finish the quilt for my daughter last night! Yay. Only took me two years or so. But she loves it so that is ok.

We have so many people from all over the world here on Craftster and people from many different cultures and heritages. I think it would be fun if people created a traditional craft from their culture/heritage and maybe put their own spin on it (maybe step away from traditional colors etc.).

April 11 Check In

I wish I could say I dream of color pallets but I don't. I used to think about it a lot more when I was planning out quilts or jewelry projects (or dreaming of owning a drum carder)  but since I am trying to finish what I have already started and not get new projects I don't.   Also, since I mostly make things for my kids I tend to stick to their favorite colors which doesn't leave much room for color experimentation.
