13  Baby Mermaid in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by meleriffic on: June 25, 2014 08:42:57 AM

My friend's little girl is turning 1 today, and we were invited to attend a party for her. So for a present, I made this little mermaid. She's made from the Baby Mermaid Pattern by Bit of Whimsy Dolls.

She's pretty easy to make (as long as you don't make silly mistakes like I always tend to do), which is a good thing, because now all 4 of my children want one.

14  Teal and Yellow Rolags and Hand Combed Top in Spinning: Completed Projects by meleriffic on: June 03, 2014 12:19:52 PM

I was recently in the fiber swap and my partners questionnaire listed mustard yellow and teal as a favorite color combination. I wasn't really sure about it, but I went ahead and got some fiber and turned it into some hand combed top.

I really liked the colors together, and decided I needed some fiber in this color for myself. Instead of making for hand combed top, I decided to see how the colors would look in rolag form. They turned out beautiful as well. In fact I like them so much, I may need to go get more fiber to make more of them.

And now for content information: the yellow is colonial wool, teal is merino, white is faux cashemere (which is so incredibly soft), there is some angelina flash fiber, and I believe a little bit of firestar.

Details of swap:

We all love crafting, and many of us dabble in various mediums. However, no matter how many things we try and no matter how good we are at them, there are some things we are better at than others. For this swap we will be choosing the medium that we are best at and making 1 large item for our partners.

While only 1 large is required, you may send extras if you choose. Please just discuss this with your partner first. Sometimes there is a bit of confusion as to what is a large item.  So here's a handy dandy guide.  This is a guideline ONLY: a rough estimate of size described by time it takes to make package, by physical size and by cost:

By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
By Size
-Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse
By Price
-Large = $30 or more

If you have a question about whether an item is a large or not feel free to ask.

No one likes to be flaked on, so if you aren't sure if you can do this swap, dont sign up. If you know you will be late or unable to complete the swap please let the organizer and your partner know ASAP.

Communication is a must. Everyone is required to post on the thread at least once a week to let us know they are still involved with the swap. If you do not post it will be noted in your feedback. If you are going on vacation or will be away from the internet please let us know. You will not be accepted into the swap until you have posted here in the thread.

Delivery Confirmation is required within the U.S. Please send the tracking number to both your partner and the organizer when you send. If you are sending outside of the U.S. keep your receipt as it will be needed as proof of sending if something goes wrong.

PM both your Partner and your team organizer when you send and receive.

One of the fun things about swaps is being able to see what everyone has made. So please take pictures of the items you received and post them in the gallery. If you know you are unable to post pictures, let your partner know so they can post them for you. (It would be a good idea to take pictures of the item you will be sending just in case.)

Remember, swapping is about having fun. So please lets be kind and courteous so everyone can have an enjoyable time.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Name of swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address including the country
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
Confirm that are at least 16 years old: (YES/NO)

Do you have any allergies?

Do you have any allergens in your home (cats, smoke, etc)?

Please list the thing or things you are best at:

What types of items and/or mediums would you like to receive?

Items/mediums youd prefer not to receive.

Favorite colors?

Least favorite colors?

Do you have specific ideas or inspirations that would help your partner personalize your piece (Wists, Etsy Favorites, Flickr, etc)?

Anything else youd like your partner to know?

Also, remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find other rules about participating in a swap.

16  Re: Fibre Swap-May2014 - Fluffiest gallery ever in The Swap Gallery by meleriffic on: May 22, 2014 06:07:37 PM
I received from pollyprissypants today! She thoroughly spoiled me with gorgeous fiber.

There is over 5 oz of these beautiful green and blue rolags. She made them from corriedale roving that she dyed in 4 different colors to get this beautiful blend.

And if that wasn't enough she sent me some fun extras (that she also dyed herself).

There is 1 oz of these fun baby rolags.

And there is around .6oz of these beautiful silk hankies.

I just love the colors of everything and can't wait to see how they spin up.

Thank you so much pollyprissypants! I love all of it.

17  Mother's Day Necklaces for Grandmas in CHALLENGE 98 ENTRIES by meleriffic on: May 03, 2014 11:44:02 AM
Mother's Day is coming up and my mother-in-law is going to be with us this year. So I thought it would be a good idea to have a present. Several weeks ago, I had pinned a simple birthstone necklace. You can see it here. So I decided to make one for both my mother-in-law and my mother, but using the birthstones of all their grandchildren.

My mother-in-laws necklace:

My mothers:

I put the birthstones in order of birth on both necklaces.

20  Owl and Cow Hats in Crochet: Completed Projects by meleriffic on: April 28, 2014 09:21:45 AM

I made my niece some hats for her 1st birthday. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of them before giving them to her, so these are the best I have.  I found both patterns at Repeat Crafter Me. You can find the owl hat here and the cow hat here.
