This is probably the best shelf I've ever seen.

Three of the songs from the Pettit Project's album 'All The Pettit Project wants for Christmas is for people to stop calling them "Petite Project"' are Christmas related.

Mistletoepriation of Funds
Stupid Christmas Song
How Do You Giftwrap a Young Boy's First Broken Heart

You can also probably find neat bottles and things in the glassware at a thrift store.

I did something similar for my ex-not-boyfriend (long story.) to what SammyB did- I took a black thick photo frame & painted dots of glow-in-the-dark paint on about 4 layers of overhead projector film things, and layered them in the frame. I spaced them apart with toothpicks, but the frame covered them. I wrote "I'm afraid of the dark without you close to me," on the top layer in silver paint pen. I also had a tiny glass jar that i painted with some of the dots, so it looked like fireflies in a jar & flying about. The song was "100,000 Fireflies" by Magnetic Fields. He really seemed to love it, and would let it charge up under his bedside lamp each night before he went to sleep.

I don't know how to customize the ideas for that particular song, tho. I don't think I know it, oddly enough. Good luck!

I just had to say that I love that song.

Great idea!
It took me some seconds to realize what it was, since mine come in rectangled strips.
Gr,
BeaG

The first brand I used came in rectangular strips (Yasmin) but when I changed to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo I was secretly so excited because the case seemed to hold lots of crafting possibilities.

So, here's my entry for the new life for old jeans craft challenge.  Right after I saw the challenge I decided I wanted to do it, but at first I couldn't think of something fun and original that I would actually like to make.  Then, suddenly, an idea just ocurred to me.

Feel free to click any of the pictures to view a larger version.

So in case you haven't figured out what this little bit of my old pair of jeans is, it's...

An embellished birth control pill case!

I had about a billion of the cases laying around since I get a new one every time I fill my prescription.  Along with it, I get the little pamphlet about how you should buy one of their special cases that has some lame picture printed on it.  I decided it would be way more fun to make my own.

To make it, I first glued the denim down to the case.  For embellishments I glued on a few oblong pearl beads, a scrap of ribbon, and a beautiful handmade ceramic button (I just pulled out the wire toggle loop in the back so it would lay flat).  I then painted around the edge of the case to keep the denim and ribbon from fraying.

Cute and functional!
