2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Creepy Cute Crochet making me crazy!!! on: July 13, 2009 12:01:49 AM
I brought the book Creepy Cute Crochet to Iraq with me, figuring I would enjoy doing some fun, simple projects but instead I am extremely frustrated.  I had no problem with the basic body, but I can not get the head to come out right.  I don't know if it's the 'sl st' or 'sc 1 in same' (or both) that's throwing me off.  I place a stitch marker where I sl st and crochet the required number of sc, but I always end up short of the sl st - and on the diagram it appears that all the sl st are sl st to each other.  Where am I going wrong?  Has anyone made these patterns because I would be most appreciative of some guidance.  Thank you.

Great job and such a wearable pattern.  This is something I hope to be able to do one day.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Camouflage/Star Trek needle roll and yarn bag on: January 13, 2009 05:04:14 PM
Thank you for all the compliments.  I found the constellation fabric a few years ago at Joanns (or maybe Walmart) and the Star Trek fabric at Yardage Town.   I miss my sewing machine..... Sad

When I found out I was deploying to Iraq for a year the crafster in me wanted to make something appropriate to carry my needles, hooks, and yarn.  I decided to to cut up an old skirt I had make with Star Trek fabric to use for the interior along with constellation fabric that glows in the dark and twill camouflage to match my uniform.

Both were easy to make (http://www.tostetoes.com/knittingroll.htm and http://u-handbag.typepad.com/uhandblog/2007/10/hex-open-bag--1.html), however next time I won't make a 15" needle roll for a 14" yarn bag. Smiley
