When I found out I was deploying to Iraq for a year the crafster in me wanted to make something appropriate to carry my needles, hooks, and yarn.  I decided to to cut up an old skirt I had make with Star Trek fabric to use for the interior along with constellation fabric that glows in the dark and twill camouflage to match my uniform.

 Both were easy to make (http://www.tostetoes.com/knittingroll.htm and http://u-handbag.typepad.com/uhandblog/2007/10/hex-open-bag--1.html), however next time I won't make a 15" needle roll for a 14" yarn bag.
