1  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: PDQ on: January 11, 2009 04:38:56 PM
I'm working on this hat right now and mine too seems like it's going to be too short for my head.  Where did you add your extra rows?

I just added them to the bottom, before the ear flaps.

Actually it only took a couple of hours, maybe three, including all the frogging (about every other row after I recounted and realized I had too many).

Not difficult at all, it only took about 2 hours.  And I'm NOT that experienced  Wink

Thanks I love the colors too!! I want to do some different shades of lavender next, but I am fond of a charcoal yarn I need to use that would go great with lavender or hot pink!

SusanHAFB, your name reminds me of Hill Air Force Base!!! HAFB!! HA! I live right next to it!! My dad and husband were stationed there, and that is just what your username reminds me of <3!!

It's actually for Hanscom Air Force Base, in MA, where I was stationed for almost 3 years (and where I was when I created my first email address 12 years ago!)  A lot of people have thought it stood for Hickam, which I would have preferred (that's in Hawaii!)

The first time I did it it came out WAY too big too, it turns out that somehow I wasn't counting right!  The second time (of which this was the result) I counted after every row.  I ended up ripping out about every other row at least once, but it came out the right size.  It's definitely worth trying again.

I added a couple of rows because it didn't seem long enough.

Another hat for my niece.  She's into pink camo, not my personal color choice.  I did like the pattern though, although I would do it without the ear flaps next time.  It came from "100 Hats to Knit and Crochet".

Here's a hat that I made for my niece.  My second ever completed crochet project.  The pattern came from "100 Knit and Crochet Hats" or something like that (I can't actually find the book at the moment  Huh) The colors are her favorites, not my personal preference.  I do love the pattern though.

I have been dabbling in crochet for about 4 years now.  However, I never finished anything until this fall!  Well once it was done, I had a lot more confidence and have since finished a handful more things.  The pattern came from the Happy Hooker book from the Stitch N Bitch series.

The ear flaps are functional, and can come down as needed.

I'd love the pattern when you get it written out!!
