1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Super Breezy Summer Dress on: July 20, 2012 02:08:39 AM

It's melting hot here in Barcelona so I made this super breezy dress out of a fabric I bought in winter for less than $2 a yard. It's basically just a long tank top with a curved hem.

I am thinking to sew another one in a grey batiste but that's quite transparent and I am not sure how to line it without making it lose its bounce and flow. I was thinking a matching camisole...

What do you think?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Skinny Straps Denim Bag on: May 22, 2012 01:51:30 AM
This is my newest bag: a sturdy everyday denim bag with skinny leather straps.

It has a red cotton lining and 2 inner pockets.

Would love to hear your suggestions and ideas about this bag!

Thanks for looking!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / A Very Simple Maxi Skirt on: May 07, 2012 08:16:14 AM
I made this skirt in only a couple of hours, it's a flowy crepe de chine with a knit fabric high waist that can be draped in many ways. It could work as a maternity dress as well.

The lining is shorter (you can see it peaking in the second photo) and has two lateral slits so I can bike in the skirt.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Blue Spring Shorts With Floral Trims on: April 01, 2012 09:51:14 AM

I made these shorts today. They only took a couple of hours to sew and I am quite happy with they fancy yet girly look. All I need now is a pair of saddle shoes.

In case you want to give it a try and make a pair, I've posted the tutorial and the pattern on my blog: http://skyturtle.net/how-to-make-a-pair-of-fancy-shorts-tutorial-and-free-pattern/

Thank you for looking :>
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sailor Dress on: September 11, 2011 10:42:00 AM
I made this a few weeks ago - the pattern is derived from a Burda pattern but I've changed a lot of lines and curves and the fabric :>

and the back

Suggestion, tips?
Does the part above the belt look weird to you?

Thanks for looking!
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New handbags - Mailman, Urban Fairy and Retronia = pic heavy on: May 18, 2011 02:00:39 AM
I made a few more bags from my planning world domination pattern, one in postcard printed fabric, the other one in a neo-romantic print and a rather baroque third. They're all lined in cotton and close with zipper.

What do you think? Until now, nobody seems to like the last bag - is the fabric too couch-like? Am I the only one who thought that was cute? Smiley

Any ideas on how these could be improved?

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / An Oversized Reversed Tuxedo Vest on: May 08, 2011 05:23:36 AM
I made this last weekend. I was very happy at the time, as I never made a vest from scratch before and this came out nicely. And it's reversible Smiley

I think the shoulders are too wide for my body, but overall I like it.

What else do you think I could change?

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A tiny purse shaped like a building on: April 26, 2011 02:42:19 AM
I made this tiny purse the other day, thinking playing never hurt anybody.

What do you think? Any suggestions?

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / A simple tshirt + bias tape on: March 23, 2011 04:07:45 AM

I wanted to see how difficult is to make non-elastic bias tape look okay on a knit piece of clothing, like a tshirt.

I used 12 mm bias tape and a soft batiste and an elastic knit. I think it worked out ok. And it was VERY fast to sew.

Do you think it looks like a pajama?

And the fit:

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Playing with bleach and iron-ons and making tiny purses on: March 14, 2011 03:11:23 AM
I felt like experimenting with fabric the other day and started putting stuff in bleach. The downside was that I stained my new perfect bleu-marine sneakers Sad - always wear stuff you can live without when playing with bleach - but the bright side was this salmon pink that I discovered underneath a deep orange cotton!

It inspired me to do this tiny purses. I love when a piece of fabric or a color makes me want to make things!

What inspires you? Where do you invent things?

Ah - and the purses! (The iron-ons are from a Sukie book)
