1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Planning stages for a MONSTER party on: September 05, 2010 09:51:50 PM
I'm having a joint birthday party for my two sons; one will be turning 1 & the other will be 3 (their birthdays are 2 days apart!) & we've decided on a monster theme. I'm trying to get ideas for EVERYTHING - invites, food, desserts, favors, decorations. Anybody have any great ideas? Links to good stuff (even just pictures)? I'm still brainstorming so anything is helpful right now! I am thinking of making very simple monster hats & clip-on monster tails for the kiddies as favors, but I'll give them out as soon as they get to the party so they can wear them around if they want. Any suggestions on anything?
Thanks so much!
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Mad Libs swap on: August 28, 2010 09:19:55 AM
Anyone think a mad libs swap would be fun? The questionnaire would involve a paragraph with words left out & instructions to fill them in with noun, verb, etc. That info would be used to craft for your partner. (Of course, the allergy/sensitivity & important stuff like that would be separate.) It would be up to each person how they wanted to fill out their "mad libs". You could fill it out like a regular questionnaire & give the person basic info about yourself, or make it a little unusual, or throw caution the the wind & fill it out like a regular mad libs (without looking at the paragraph & just filling in words randomly). For instance:

"I have number adjective noun with me at all times."

Could be filled out:

I have two male children with me at all times. (Partner might make something for kids)

I have a million crafty ideas with me at all times. (Partner might send a journal for ideas)

I have 1 slimy apple with me at all times. (Who knows what partner would do with this. Maybe an apple cozy? It would be fun & interesting though)

Make sense? Too crazy? Sound like fun?
3  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Need help with glass "etching" with spray paint on: August 06, 2010 06:09:19 AM
I've been trying to do a faux etched glass using a stencil & spray paint, but I'm having problems. I'm using painter's tape & cutting out the stencil I want & it's working great, but when I peel it off the paint is sticking to the tap & either chipping away from the stencil I have or the design is coming off completely with the tape. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?? I'm thinking of trying to put some vaseline on the painter's tape at the edges of the design in the hopes that I'll get the paint in the design & not stuck to the painter's tape. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Felt card table playhouse on: February 23, 2010 04:46:52 PM
I made this for my son for Christmas but I'm just getting around to posting it now. I saw this on Etsy & thought: I can do that, so I did. There is felt mail and the fruits, veggies, and birds have velcro on the back so they can be removed and repositioned.

7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Sandwich PUL - when to use it? on: February 11, 2010 09:35:22 PM
I have both regular PUL & sandwich PUL & I'm trying to figure out when to use each. Are they interchangeable, or are there certain things that are better with one or the other? Can I use sandwich PUL to make a wetbag?
Thanks!  Smiley
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Shiny knit fabric... any ideas?? on: November 15, 2009 12:29:09 PM
I have several yards of shiny knit fabric (orange, green, & grey) because I have not yet learned to resist a sale. I have no idea what to do with it. I'd love to use some of my stash for Christmas gifts, but can't come up with anything for this. Any ideas what I could use it for? What have you made with shiny knit fabric or what would you make???
Thanks! Smiley
Sarah

I can't resist a sale.. I bought several yards of shiny knit fabric (orange, black, green, & grey) & I have no idea what to do with it. I'd like to destash by making Christmas gifts, but I'm stumped. I did a google image search for "shiny knit" for ideas, but pretty much everything looked like it belonged on a stripper (& unfortunately have no strippers on my gift list). HELP!
