11  Re: 50 Projects 2014--Let's continue the craftiness! in Craftalongs by Ffrogg526 on: July 29, 2014 03:34:02 PM
So here's the most recent projects!  I've actually finished things and gotten them posted!  yay me!

The first project I'm posting is the granny square afghan that FantasticMio sent me the pattern for.  I decided to do it in scrap yarn (mostly - I needed certain colors!) and join together with black.  I think to make it fit me, I'm going to add some to it.

Secondly - Z's socks.  Just have to bury ends.  It's been kinda crazy around here with interviews and summer coming to an end soon.  So I haven't had a chance to get an action shot.  But they fit him!  Cheesy  I love me the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern!

My partner GingerKnitter has received her hoop so I thought I'd post a picture of it for her since I'm sitting around not doing much of anything.  yay summer!  Cheesy

One of her sayings was "I'm kinda pissed about not being a Mermaid".  So I went fabric hunting and found this wonderful bluey-green fabric that made me think of the ocean.  Then I did some mermaid/fish scales in the background.  It was a really fun hoop to work on!  And I'm glad she liked it!

The rainbow skirt looks so pretty. Were the fabrics from your stash or did you have to purchase each separately? It looks like there are no duplicates, so either way, that's a lot of fabrics!

There might have been some duplicates but they're in the bigger rows towards the bottom.  Most of its from my stash because when I'm only using 4" squares I can get several out of a fat quarter or a 1/4 yard of fabric.  So each piece lasts a good long while!  Smiley

Here are pictures of the hoop I sent GingerKnitter that she just received today!  I've been so excited to post this one. Its nothing hugely special but I love it!

And this picture is so you can see the fish scales I embroidered in the background.

This is something I finished a while back.  But I just finally got it sent off to the lucky recipient.  And she took the picture because I was in such a rush to get it to her that I forgot to take pictures!  Smiley  She has a tiny waist after having twins!  31".

Look who's gettin' around to finally posting some pictures!  Cheesy

Crocheted nests.  One of my friends requested four to use at the Water Fowl Rescue center that she volunteers at.  Yay scrap yarn!

My VERY FIRST PAIR OF SOCKS!  I might be a little excited about these!  They are plain orange but they are mine and they are done!  Cheesy

The Paidrag Driving Cap.  I don't have an action shot of Z in his hat.  Silly man wouldn't let me take one. The top picture is kinda hard to see but its the cabling that's on top of the cap.

I have a hoopla finished as well but I can't post it because it hasn't made its way home just yet.

Ffrogg that is a lovely looking scarf - is it as complicated to knit as it looks? (Even after many years I am still just at the 'beginner knitter' stage).

Honestly - not NEARLY as complicated as it looks (or as I thought!)!  If you can knit, purl and ssk, you can do this!  There are tutorials on YouTube.  But I bought Entrelac: Essential Guide to Interlace Knitting ages ago!  And finally decided to dive in on Jan. 1

And here's project #1 FINISHED!  I started it a long time ago, was putting other yarn away, and found it.  Its been sadly ignored for a long time and today was the day!  Its done!  woot!

17  First sweater! And its black! ACK! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Ffrogg526 on: January 02, 2014 06:12:11 AM
So, about 3, maybe 4 years ago, I saw this book and it had a sweater pattern in it that Z liked.

So - being the good fianc I said "I can make that!"  So he picked out yarn and buttons and I set to work.  I picked it up, put it down, got angry, ripped it out, ignored it some more, went to one of my LYSs for help, worked some more, went to another LYS.  Finally got someone to show me how to seam it together and....  TA DA!

There are still some issues with it (in my opinion).  I don't like the button plaquets because they flop.  They're not sturdy enough to hold up unless they're buttoned.  Z says its perfect.  Cheesy

Laying flat.

Up close and personal with the collar.

The really wonderful woman who helped me seam it together told me that he better love me for making him a black sweater because its soooo stinking hard to see.  I really didn't have a problem with it.  Overall, I'm happy with how this turned out.  And even though Z is already bugging me about making him another sweater (the joke is that it'll take a good 10 years), I think the next sweater will be for me!  Cheesy

Thanks for looking!

I posted sometime yesterday about working on some entrelac for the first time.  Way to start the new year!  Here's a photo of yesterday's progress!  Cheesy

Knitters - is it just me or does entrelac take up more yarn than regular knitting?

This is the ornament that I finished today.  Wanted to see how long it took me start to finish (the answer was 3.5 hours).

HERE is the link to 9 more hoops I've made and given away to friends and family for Christmas this year.  Cheesy

Merry Christmas everyone!

20  Doodle Stitched Christmas Ornaments in Needlework: Completed Projects by Ffrogg526 on: December 25, 2013 06:14:54 AM
I had a brainstorm over Thanksgiving and found myself on the hunt for 3" hoops!  Cheesy  I already had the off white sparkly fabric from another project so I started out using that.  I found  THIS on Pinterest and took my inspiration from it.  I really hope she doesn't mind.   Roll Eyes

Everyone I've given them to absolutely loves their ornament!  Here's hoping that my future in-laws feel the same.  I had Christmas with Z yesterday so I don't get to see the future in-laws reaction.

Here are 9 of the hoops I made.

Questions and comments are welcome!  Thanks for taking a look!
