6  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Steampunk for Core Con 2009 on: April 06, 2009 06:52:16 PM
Well this past weekend-April 3-5 was Core Con in Fargo N.D., and the convention was great fun. Some people were taking pictures but I forgot to get their email addresses for copies of the photos. I'm going to try to find my cable for my camera so I can take my own pictures and post some of the props that I made.
I put in around 20 hours working on everything, and wasn't really able to get the origional concept done due to flooding in the area. However, all in all I'm pretty pleased with what I was able to come up with in such a short amount of time.

I made the corset and the blouse from my own origional patterns, along with the belt and the wrist compass. The gun was a spray painted squirt gun I got for a dollar.

Here is the one close up I've managed to find so far.

So I'm thinking of making an outfit for Corecon coming up in two weeks. The outfit I am contimplating making includes...

1. Top hat with goggles, feathers and gears
2. A sleevless ruffle blouse
3. Corset
4. A six button underbust vest with quarter length sleeves, with a lapel?(kinda like a peterpan colar lining the top edge of the vest.
5. Side holster for the Maverick gun
6. Maverick
7. Trousers-calf length
8. Black mary janes with leather spats

Any suggestions or better modications to the list? I'm thinking of ditching the corset, and adding a utility belt slung rather low on my hips. I have no work or school so I have a decent amount of time to complete everything. I'm also on the larger side, so I'm having difficulty putting together a flattering outfit (I am pear shapped).

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: First ever quilt..I forgot the 'quilting' part. on: January 05, 2009 01:49:59 AM
That you all for the advice. The batting is a recycleded old wool quilt that I've had since I was young. I think I'm going to need to do some top stiches around the smaller pieces that I hand sewed on, and then do the tying method.

Thank you, I'll need to post pictures when I'm done..so look out for a Veggie tales lap quilt!!
