1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Changing colours - what am I doing wrong? on: October 02, 2005 01:56:49 AM
Bearing in mind that I am a complete beginner and even so haven't picked up needles in years, I decided to make a striped scarf yesterday, but I'm doing something wrong and I'm not sure what.

When I change the colours, the first stitch of the last row of the previous colour is coming up into the first row of the new colour. I'm changing the yarn at the other side, though.

I'm not sure if any of that made sense. Here's a photo:

Also, I'm using a 60% cotton, 40% acrylic. Do I need to block it?

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Seven Deadly Sins Swap? on: September 27, 2005 06:44:28 PM
I'm leaning towards one item for each sin, but DEFINITELY nothing too time consuming, maybe one medium effort item and six small items?

Signups starting tomorrow and running for three weeks?

A doona is a quilt stuffed with feathers that has an interchangable cover, they call them duvets in the UK.

I'm excited about Halloween! People around here just don't get it, but I didn't have the time or energy to join the big swap.
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Wardrobe Revamp Craftalong on: September 27, 2005 06:27:51 PM
My mum still uses the line that 'your appearance reflects on me, you know, people will think I didn't teach you how to dress yourself' but it's ok, because my brother has dreads, so I'll always be the good, well groomed child.

Ok, next month will definitely be halloween, I was thinking that it might be easiest to just combine bags and accessories and make dresses last.

Also, hoodies are a great idea for outerwear. I'm so in love with hoodies, but sweatshirts make me look ginormous, so I have to make my own out of thinner fabric. I'm seriously impressed by 8 shirts, spitbubbleluv, for some reason, I didn't even think of screenprinting.

This craftalong is going to keep me very busy over the months.
