21  Re: Doctor Who and Spinoffs round 5 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by angelcallie on: November 06, 2009 11:39:20 PM
Yesterday I received from romancedinthepast!

The first thing I pulled out was this cute little adipose plushie!

Book box made to look like River Song's journal.

With spoilers inside!

An awesome book mark.

The little round box of Rassilon!

And a set of magnets.

Thanks, romancedinthepast!

22  Gameboy costume in Halloween Costumes by angelcallie on: November 02, 2009 12:33:24 PM
Bahaha. I'm not really sure where I got the idea to be a gameboy for Halloween.

I used a cardboard box and covered it with gray broadcloth. The buttons are made of several layers of felt so that they are raised from the surface. The other details are painted. The screen is made of a layer of semi see through green fabric, the name of which escapes me at the moment . . . I made a second scrim out of the fabric as well, so that I could play Tetris.

There are ties inside the box so that the Tetris screen can be attached so that it sits right behind the regular screen. There are also a second set of ties below the screen so as to provide a storage space for the second screen because it is kinda hard to see through when wandering around in the dark.

It didn't photograph terribly well, but here it is. You can just about see the tetris screen in this picture.

I ended up making three Halloween costumes this year: one for me, one for my sister, and a last minute one for my sister's friend. I was a gameboy.

49. Gameboy Costume

My sister wanted to be Alice in Wonderland but she couldn't find one to buy that wasn't, shall we say, too revealing (which is refreshing to hear from a 17 year old girl). So I was recruited to make one for her. I'm pretty proud of it because she asked me less than a week before Halloween and I drafted the whole pattern myself and constructed it in a matter of days.

50. Alice in Wonderland Costume

And, at around 4pm on the day of Halloween my sister's friend was lamenting that she had no costume, she and my sister came up with the brilliant plan of going as a pregnant woman and decided that, since a pillow would just "look stupid," I was to be roped into making a pregnant belly for her to wear. It's not terribly sophisticated, but I had under an hour to construct it and I am weirdly proud of it as well.

51. Pregnant Costume

That's my fifty, I guess. Maybe I'll go back and take out all the swap stuff and see if I can make it to fifty again with those removed.

25  Ensign Tamaki doll in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by angelcallie on: September 11, 2009 02:23:47 PM
This post is heavy with geekdom! Consider yourself warned . . .

I went to dragon*con this past week and Vic Mignogna (the voice of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist and Tamaki Suoh from Ouran High School Host Club in the english dubs) was going to be there. So, as a craftster and fan, I wanted to make him something to show my love and appreciation for his work. There was a commentary on one of the Ouran episodes where Vic (who is a big star trek fan) makes a joke about Tamaki being a red shirt on the original series, so I thought it would be cute to make that.

Tamaki in his Ouran uniform jacket, looking like a normal student.

What's that under your jacket, Tamaki?

Ahahaha! He's a red shirt!

Vic loved him! He even showed him off at the beginning of his next panel, which made my geeky little heart squeal.

Vic, me and RevolutionaryGirl with little Ensign Tamaki.

Vic is so adorable.

I used my own pattern for this, though it was derived from the babylondonstar pattern. And yes, I know it doesn't look all that much like Tamaki. It's the hair, I tell you! Anime hair defies physics. But I was pretty happy with him, anyway.

My bobbin case got scratched like a month ago and I am still waiting on the replacement part, so crafting around here has been a bit slow of late. I borrowed my old huskystar from the friend I gave it to to get a few things done before I went on vacation last week, but crafting has been slow 'round these parts.

Oookay, I received a fabulous box full of wonder from Atellix last night, and here is everything she sent me!

Prettiest. Shirt. Ever.

My lighting is crap so the picture does not show the full awesomeness of this shirt, but it is gorgeous! It's Tamaki from Ouran Host Club (who I loooove) And the fabric is really soft and it fits really well, too. And I don't know how/if she knew this, but I adore long sleeved t-shirts above all others and I can't wait for the weather to cool down a bit so I can wear my lovely new shirt!

And here's the back, because it's fun, too!

Then there is the Ubiquitous Kitty from Trigun box

Which had inside of it:

Stickers!

And this cute little guy, a Puppy!Tamaki keychain

And an upside-down Tamaki keychain (I love that he's freaking out because he's hanging by his foot!)

There was also this Death Note

Which is really a box (that I can use to hide things from my sister)

Thank you so much Atellix! I love everything!

Yay Sinjah is back! And she received the package I sent to her, but she doesn't have a proper camera just now so I volunteered to share some pictures of the things I sent her.

Firstly, a journal

It says "Book of My Genius my M. Rodney McKay" on the cover and there are random Rodney quotes in the top and bottom corners of some of the pages.

Next, a personal shield emitter pin I made of sculpey

I was pretty amused by this idea, and my sister is already demanding that one be made for her as well.

Then, (my favorite thing I made) a stargate tote bag

The design continues on the back

And since I used stars and "space" on the outside of the bag with the stargate, I decided to use a neat fabric covered in clocks and "time" on the inside (so the bag is made of space and time)

(sometimes impulse fabric purchases really pay off Smiley )

And two little postcards from Atlantis (and one from my place of employment hiding in there as well)

Yay! I has a package! I received from Laela today (because my mail travels strangely and things that are delivered on Saturday sometimes float around the loading dock until they make their way to my actual mailbox on Sunday) and now I get to show you all the stuff she sent me. She fit a lot of goodness in that box.

Okay, firstly, she sent me a paper-puzzle thingie of Ein from Cowboy Bebop which I had to immediately attempt to assemble. I don't think I did too bad a job of it.

He looks just like a tiny paper version of my dog, Tauri (seen rolling about in my avatar)!

Next, a little heart ornament inspired by Utena

Then a flannel Ouran patch which I think will look nice over the dumb embroidery on a blue sweatshirt I have

A very nice drawing of Jin from Samurai Champloo

Pre-cut fabric and instruction on making a poppet-sized Fullmetal Alchemist cloak for one of my little poppety-dolls (I think Tate will end up with this one, though Tigan might try to steal it)

A little collection of fantastic animals sent to me in a chocolate box with a note from D of Petshop of Horrors

I think I like the kirin and the fat little totetsu best, but all four of them are lovely!

There was a really fantastic Trigun inspired keychain in the box, but I seem to have forgotten to take it's picture. That will be rectified soon. It's awesome!
EDIT: Here's the picture:

And lastly, my favorite thing in the box, an L makeup bag. I pulled it out of the box facing this way:

And it was full of stuff so I didn't notice at first that the back side was even more wonderful

I laughed so hard when I finally saw it!

Thank you so much, Laela, I love everything. Some of it is going to be put to use immediately!
