141  Re: Craft This Tote Round 2! - Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by quaggy on: January 17, 2012 03:42:03 PM
Woot Woot!!!  My wonderful bag arrived from lukenlarry!  She rocks!  I love the owl fabric and the applique that she made and added to it!  Owls are a favorite of mine and this fabric is so cute.  The inside is so neat and the applique look so professorial.  It is sewn on with a straight stitch and then she button hole stitched around it by hand!  I love it!

Next up is this cute stuffie that I will be using as an armchair pin cushion.  I have chosen to name him rollo!

Lukenlarry spoiled me with a 2nd bag!   I think the name they use for these are rag bags!  The fabrics are all themes that I love! I especially like the squares with the lady bugs, butterfly's, birds.  There is one on the handle with a hot air balloon, the batiks are beautiful.   Thank you so much for such a wonderful package!  Yours should be completed tonight.

Awe you so deserved everything!

*Everything was wrapped in the cutest wrapping paper and bags, which of course, I saved!*

CANDY:  A bag of vanilla meringue cookies, a bag of red and green jelly belly jellybeans, and a bar of chocolate in an ORANGE  wrapper!

EXTRAS:  'Grow your own ornament', a lighthouse themed calendar, owl stickers, and patterns from Michaels.

SUPPLIES:  TWO sets of purse handles, round and square pendants to use with resin, dragonfly/bee/ladybug charms, a skein of orange varigated yarn and two skeins of choc. brown/turquoise varigated yarn.

CRAFTED ITEMS:  An orange colored/different patterned scrappy made bookmark with beautiful beaded strands of clear beads on the end, a creme/pink/brown colored/different patterned scrappy made bookmark with the most amazing beaded dragonfly attached to the top of it.  My description doesn't do it justice.  You will just have to wait for the photo.

A very BIG and orange and owl themed thread catcher which seems like it would be great for holding items other than just thread, and is in use as we speak, a sewn "pencil case" (which is too beautiful for holding pencils) made in a great pink/white/black/bright yellow patterned fabric, with holes in one end to be put in a binder and on the other end-attached to the zipper-a georgous black beaded zipper pull.  AN ORANGE SCRAPPY THEMED (with owls too) WALLET!

And the bag to end all bags...the bag she made me...owl/flower/leaf/woodland animals fabric with a button/loop closure, two handles, tons of pockets inside, and IMPECCABLE workmanship!  Words don't do this justice either.

Thanks for such great descriptions Miss Barbara, I had fun crafting for you!!!!

143  Re: Fukubukuro 福袋 lucky bag Swap Gallery (Mail by 12/12/2011) in The Swap Gallery by quaggy on: December 12, 2011 05:41:51 PM
My package arrived from Miss Barbara on Saturday, BF hid it until Sunday thinking it should be hidden under the tree.  So on a day that mail does not run I was so excited when I mentioned that I was hoping my swap parcel would  have came on Saturday and now I had to wait until Monday. BF explained he had placed a parcel under the tree.  Woo Hoo it was my spoilage from Miss Barbara!!!!

First off Miss Barbara and I are very similar and would get along great if we lived closer together.  We chat often and she knows me well. She found this cute dragonfly tote that she included since it had my name written all over it!  It is gonna be a great tote for paper and such from work to home and back again!!!!

Also you will see all the extras that she included. post a notes, wood cut outs, more favorites, frogs, fish etc. Some scratch and sniff bookmarks and a cute one made from ribbon.  I have not read in awhile but with Christmas break starting this Friday I plan to curl up with a good book or two and these will be perfect.  A pen and pencil from where she lives.  A cute mini rubber duck and missing from the picture a cute mini gray fox, I put the little critter somewhere so the dogs would not get it and now not sure where it is! Twizzlers yum yum! Some chocolate bars, not pictured but OMG one had    PMS  Preferred    Male   Substitute,      another that was a million dollars bar that is milk chocolate and looks like money  then a pack of 7 chocolate Santa's. I also received a tin shaped like a cupcake with cupcake mints inside frosting flavored.  (I thought I took pictures but can not find them.  If not I will get more pictures and add them to the gallery tomorrow.

Next are some supplies that I always use, thread, velcro and a wreath that she crocheted around an ice cream lid.  Very very clever.  It is a dark green not black as it appears.  It has cute buttons and a ribbon bow.  I have taken it to work and am using it as a candle ring!!!!

Now onto my mega prizes!  Miss Barbara so spoiled me with 2 crocheted bags!  Both are super cute!  The turquoise and navy blue is so chic!  It has a matching small buttoned clutch that I am using to keep my video recorder for work in.  The little black bag that came with it just was not working and this is just perfect.  Miss Barbara nailed the lining fabric too.  It is definitely my color and has paisley on it which is another favorite since my bird was named paisley after the fabric.  I always planned to get another bird and name it plaid but since Paisley was lost my heart was so broken that will never happen. Now you can not see this but not only did Miss Barbara crochet the bags but all the lining is sewn in by hand.  My gosh this had to take days and days to do!  Just looking at it wears me out.

This next bag is super too.  The colors perfect again and this is not only lined but has interior pockets again all hand sewn, even the velcro closures for the pockets, no way would I do this!!!  It is so roomy and will be used to tote all kinds of stuff. Plus a piece of fabric with all my favorite colors.

Miss Barbara made me one more gift!   These super warm (perfect teal colored)   arm warmers.  Yes there is a pair just hard to get an action shot of both.  They have a hole in the side for my thumb and the fit is perfect!  I can also slide then up and wear them while inside as I am not a winter person.

Miss Barbara thank you so much for such a wonderful well though out package!  The workmanship and time spent shows!

Everything came wrapped  in such pretty paper

Day 4 has been spoiled by my dogs Bandit and Sugar.  Sugar is the one who I am sure made this mess but I can see Bandit or Bubba as we call him egging him on.  I will not ruin the picture post of my goodies in the gallery.  Everything is fine!  (Except the dogs) I did get some embroidery floss which took about an hour to untangle, I have two of the #'s to match and one eaten I think.  Will be making a trip to Hobby Lobby to identify the actual #'s to correct color and identify the 3rd.

C is for................. charms, Fabric and metal

These are camping outdoor themed and I love them, I am thinking a charm bracelet is gonna use these, how fun!!!!
and 5 in fabric squares  picture is sideways but my favorites are on the right

DAY 12
Meleriffic totally spoiled me today and everyday!!!!  Iam so sad for this swap to end!  The finaly is awesome.  I had a crocheted dead hat fish hat on my wish list and never dreamed I would ever get one!  The size and colors are perfect.  She also made me a stenciled shirt where she used the bleach method.   we have a standing joke at the lake when we arrive at the dock from a day fishing everyone always yells who is the man.  I usually 9 out of 10 times outfish my BF, so I declair I'm the man!!!  This shirt is my favorite color and has the front of a boat on water with  a fishing pole and proclaims I'm the man!!!!!  I had the perfect person craft for me everything was so well thought outand made!!!!!!!!

DAY 11
Today I opened this super cute owl tote.  It is incredible, fully lined and large enough for me to use as a work tote.  This will be put to use after the first of the year when I have to tote lots of paper and books for a class that I have to teach!!!!

DAY 10

Meleriffic made me a super cute hoopla for my wall of art, this is so cute and well made.  She also made this huge button clock, I love both!!!!  Thank you so much these are fantastic!!!!

Today Meleriffic made me these cute slippers! I loved the ones that where posted as a gift to someone else in this thread! Now I have my own.  I love the fabric combo, my favorite color!  They fit perfect.  Meleriffic was worried about them being to small!  No worries!!!!!

I now know why the dogs where unwrapping packages.  They had a day for them and opened the wrong gift!

Meleriffic made the dogs each a stocking, 2 super needed and sturdy leashes, two rope pull toys which they love and had there others tore up pretty bad.  She also sent balls which has been fun having them chase and return to me, and I think what they must have been searching for was some raw hide candy cane chews.  They have eaten a few already and I have put the others up for another day.  My dogs said!  Ruff Ruff Bark Bark Ruff!  Translated: Thank you Meleriffic you're great!!!!!!  Ruff Ruff  Merry Christmas!!!!!

The next gift arrived at the perfect time.  We got a cold front this afternoon and it is suppose to be in the 40's tomorrow morning!  2 jars of homemade cocoa mix. The first has snowmen marshmellos with edible painted faces, too cute. The 2nd has gingerbread flavored marshmellows, it is yummy as I have sampled it!  Meleriffic also made two adorable mug rugs.  A snowman on one to match cocoa mix 1 and 3 cute gingerbread men to match cocoa mix 2. These are so cute!!!!

Look at the lovely purple necklace!  This is so me and I can't wait to wear it.  Off on vacation so it doesn't go to well with my pjs.  It is so pretty.  Meleriffic said she used a kit.  Kit or not kit it is beautiful.

One of my wishes was a sock monkey to be gifted to my sister!  This was meleriffic's first attempt and she gets an A++++++++.  She is so cute, I have named her Merry!  My sister will make sure she has a good home!

I too love the socks, perfect color combo, and her little aqua ears!
After she saw the dogs she made her way up the entertainment center as she heard the day they where ripping up the package and told me that she has been being very quite and living in fear.  They wanted her so bad as she looks like a squeaky to them!

If you recall this is the gift my dogs opened!  Here's a photo of it all nice and neat.
A sampling of supplies: fat quarters, charms, floss, bias tape and vintage ric-rac! I love supplies and these will all be used!  The box was so cute until the dogs tore it up!

These 1/2 aprons are so cute!  3 of my favorite things, retro peace signs, frogs and owls.  I love them all.   I opened this at work today but never got to get a picture.  Several of the ladies that work dispatch where headed to the store after work to get some bandanas and ribbon to make a few for christmas gifts!  Meleriffic they loved them as much as I do!!

DECEMBER, 15, 2011

Just look at the cute mushroom pot holder that meleriffic made for my kitchen.  She does beautiful crochet!  It is retro, turquoise and pale yellow and way cool.   I left my camera card in my work computor yesterday and took my camera home.  I had to bring it in with me to take pictures on my desk,  sorry not a better action shot with it at home.
Maybe later tonight I will add an action shot to show how perfect it is!!!!

Here is the mushroom potholder in its new home!

DECEMBER 14, 2011
    DAY 1

I am so excited!   Melreiffic  made me 4 adorable Christmas gingerbread ornaments!   Her daughter and her decided to make two separate batches and bake one set a little longer!  Both adorable and well made.  I do have a tree in my den that is decorated in gingerbread ever year except this year I never managed to get it up.  They will be displayed in my kitchen which has year round gingerbread and cupcake accents!  Very well made!!

Mel also included 3 peace sign ornaments that she purchased and they fit my retro tree perfect, awwww I love the glitter.  Play eye spy and see if you can find all three.

I met meleriffic today, She crafted for me and we decided to meet in person for her to give me my gifts. This was so exciting to meet my first fellow crafster.  My bf went along so I was able to get pictures!  I came home and put up my tree and yes those are all the packages of gifts from meleriffic.  Bf was like your are not gonna open them I still have not gotten him to understand what wait to open means.  I usually do not put packages under the tree till closer to Christmas.

Here are the photos posted for Miss barbara, I had so much fun with crafting for her!!!

FIRST BOX:  (yes, you read that right, first box  )
-A wrapped gift for DH that I will save for him for the holidays.  He is hard to buy for and I think he gets a kick out of receiving crafted things from "my" swaps!

I just loved this little guy!  I call him the eye spy squirrel since there are acorns, squirrels, birds, a heart, basket and owl all hidden within him!

- A 'Crewel Embroidery Felt Pillow Craft Kit' which I think will be fun to try on the next "art day" I have with my girls...

-An adorable owl-y card making kit...

-Two sheets of ladybug, dragonfly, and butterfly stickers (quaggy and I share a love of several animals/bugs, one of them being the dragonfly)...
-A roll of double sided tape...
-A cupcake magnet/pad...
-5 erasers shaped and colored like crayons...
-A set of 12 different colored Sharpie markers! (as a mom and a teacher, I am ALWAYS using these)

-A mug organizer chock full of supplies (Are you kidding me quaggy?  Give this away???  Uh-uh.  FOR ME!  )

-A sewn scissor tote, complete with scissors!  (You have great timing!  Our only pair of adult scissors walked in Sept., and I actually had to open your box with a pair of the children's scissors (4 pair!) that we had.)

I forgot to get a photo of this ooopppss!!!

Now we are on to box #2!  Yes, #2.  See, I knew quaggy had great sewing abilities and I needed large amounts of the same "generic" type gifts for my kids' teachers this year for the holidays, so that was one of the reasons that I asked her to swap with me.  So box #1 was a BONUS!  But box #2 made me speechless as well!

It contained:

-10 perfectly made travel tissue holders!  All made with completely different fabric, AND with the tissues inside!
-10 perfectly made tea wallets!  These were made in fabric to match the tissue holders, nfity buttons on each one, AND with the tea inside!
-10 key fobs to match the above items!  And THESE had georgous charms on each one!

Wowsers!!!  My parcel arrived from Miss Barbara today ans I was super spoiled.   I Love everything!!!   Grad a snack because this is going to take a while!!!!!!!
Miss Barbara went to a lot of trouble stalking me and she did an excellent job.  She wanted to make me items that I had not already received and she was spot on!!!!!
Here is a photo of all my loot layed out, wrapped and screaming open me open me!!!!!

1st up!!!  This super cute crocheted pencil scarf, I have been wanting one for ever and it is perfect.  She even used sparkle gold thread for the metal part that holds the eraser on.  How cool is this.  Also a matching bookmark, I so love to read.
Next is some school bus related things!  A red folder, a picture brag book shaped like a bus and a chalkboard bus.  These are going to work with me to decorate my office!  I work in the transportation Department of a school district.  Perfect!!!

Miss Barbara knows I love frogs, dragonflies and fish! She sent this cute frog with ribbon attached to hang up, a frog key chain flash light that ribbits when the light come on (  So me) A cute paper mache painted frog and a lime green pencil pouch stitched with hot pink, 2 of my favorite colors!  I think this will be taken to work as well I have the perfect spot.  i will try and add a picture after I get them displayed in my office!!  I am so excited and we are just starting!!! I was truly spoiled!!!! Kiss Kiss Kiss

Now Miss Barbara did not miss anything!  Next up is a cute dragon fly wooden wall hanging that goes with the frog! A art card with a dragonfly on it (Miss Barbara tells me she cut the dragonfly from a card another swap partner (amnesia) sent her since she knew I would love it, and I do), some sewing erasers, a new id lanyard with a sea turtle and in turquoise, one of my favorite colors!

2 lime green  ( this is such a pretty color) potholders or hot pads! I also got a fabric covered journal that is the perfect size.  The fabric is awesome, it has frogs, turtles, bees, dragonflies, crickets, salamanders and even a cute metal frog with wiggly eyes attached to the front and it ties with lime green ribbon!! turquoise background with white dots, this fabric is way cute and it's mine!!!

Time to go grab another snack because there is still lot's more!!!!

I am not sure if Miss Barbara even knows what this next item means to me!  It is a insulated lunch tote.  It is fuchsia in color and very unique in its zipper opening I hope the pictures capture it.  I lost my Senegal parrot back in March and the motif on the front is swirls of paisley.  Again the colors are perfect, with the lime green, turquoise and aqua! The insulated cup fits perfect in another item that is on it's way.  It has laminated fish stickers on the inside. Not the best photo. And a cute ceramic butterfly topped  spoon perfect for  hot tea!!!

Now as if this was not enough what was on the inside is truly artistic and amazing.
It has a cute container, 4 crocheted edged reusable napkins, a utensil roll that can also be used as a small placemat.  Ya see Miss Barbara knows that I seldom take a lunch, work long hours and I swear if she was closer she would probably come over and pack it daily.  This is going to be so easy now.  See the insulated mug inside the crocheted cozy, this set rocks!!!!

She even included silverware!!!!!!!!!! Kiss Kiss Kiss  And she used the same adorable fabric!

The back showing off Miss Barbara's crochet skills!

and a very happy me with the insulated mug holder/complete with mug and the lunch set!

And as this was not enough, she also sent me some flattened souviner pennies ( I collect these), a post card, brochure of a place she has visited and a cute dragonfly card!!!!

My partner rocked, and so did what she made me!!!!.  I love everything and this was truly an amazing package!!!

She does extremely fantastic crochet!   so jealous here!

I also was sent a cute frog button, he kept hopping around and I could not get a picture of him!!!
