1  Re: Prayer Flag Swap Round 6 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by quaggy on: April 28, 2016 03:30:25 PM
My flag arrived today from abbeeroad and it is perfect!  Really had not thought about what words I chose.....abbeeroad chose  "quaint"  she also stalked me well and knows I love the outdoors and camping.  This little piece of artwork came just after I talked to my insurance adjuster for our travel trailer that was totaled.  He had called to give me the claim amount and offer options.   We have chose to let it go which means a trip to the lake to empty the contents, unhook the sewage etc.  This flag is a memorial to my lost trailer!

Just look at the night sky and the trees!!!!!!!

My lost little trailer

Here is a close of up the metal stamped word!

My heart breaks but I love my flag as it represents an era past.

My patches arrive today from Inselaeffchen!!!!!!  Just when you think you have seen every owl fabric......think again!  I love the pastel shades in this patch with aqua being my favorite color it is spot on!  I also have a love for mushrooms and this one looks like it could be found down a hiking path!  I love the way the edges are stitched.  I have always just used the parallel wrap around......hmmm add this to my list of things to try!  I love my patches!

3  Re: Prayer Flag Swap Round 6 - Send-outs Monday, April 25 in ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED by quaggy on: April 20, 2016 05:15:36 PM
OMG will this week ever end.  Glad I blessed my little flags before I mailed them off....and prayers are being sent my way.....I need it.   Got off work this afternoon was headed home and a wrecker driver decided he wanted my lane..... Blowing my horn, cars behind us backing off , he keeps coming...all I see is the metal flat bed at my forehead level he is still coming so I chose the curb..... he then went back over into his lane , I attempted to get him to pull over, but no then he pulled into a corner store, me whipped around and pulled in too.  Got out of car approached him and said hey you almost killed me back there.  He said lady you chose to drive up on the curb I did not hit you it is your problem, went in store got in truck and drove off.  I call the wrecker service to hear oh well no wreck....This 5 ft 1 female was livid.  Called 911.  Police came and we went to business she talked to the driver who told her my lane was running out...what on a 4 lane road way with center turn lane.  He made the mistake of telling her he did not see me and when he did he pulled back over.  She shared if you would have collided it would have been your fault.   Talked to his boss and told him about customer service and so on.   His boss agreed to pay for me a new tire, replace the rim and sent the guy to load my car and take it to a tire shop....ya see these cars have no spare.  Anyway I am alive unhurt and just needed to rant...  This week has been H___! Feel free to delete if this should not have been posted I feel better already!

Out did my self hmm....look at this post and you may want to take that statement back,  My package arrived today from jkaywiz!

First up the awesome patches that she sent....so perfect...so me.

And even a shot of the cute backsides..... whoops photo below!

I love them all.....cute fabric and the word spring added such a pop of color....love the button fabric and the added buttons in certain areas and the sequin fish so sparkly and thread....all favorite things of mine and even a butterfly charm on the spring woodland patch!

Now when I sent out my supply kits it was a way to destash but I must say jkaywiz managed to send me more back than I sent to her...tee hee.....lots of fun goodies to play with in my kit.  I love the tiered container that she used.

Here is what was in the top bin.....ribbon, floss, flowers, vintage lace, ric-rac, eyelet, needles and another small container that has charms, patches and labels......

whew....move on to tier 2 and what did I find?HuhHuhHuhHuh

Another small case filled with beads, charms, buttons, vintage jewelry bits a large butterfly sequin and 8 containers full....

still more......on tier 3 was a load of fabrics.....some look like vintage fabric...drooling as I type, a cute water scene, some batting, 2 spools of thread copper and gold metallic and a small
hoop!

jkaywiz was extremely generous, I love it all and can't wait to have some free time to play....so many interesting things.  It always amazes me that when I get fabric it is always stuff I have never seen and my stash is pretty big.  Gonna have fun making more patches and using the lovely's my partners send!

7  Herd of Rabbits for door decorating in Easter by quaggy on: March 20, 2016 04:30:51 PM
I have been attempting to destash and had a massive amount of burlap, some foam boards and lots of buttons, glue sticks and ribbon.  I did run out of wire which is sewn inside the ears to make bendable so I had to buy more.  I managed to make a dozen of these which are pretty large and then I cut the rest of the foam board for smaller ones.  I figure these can be used as plant stakes, package ties etc.  Since it is so close to Easter I will probably hang on to the smaller ones until next year and maybe make some wreaths using them as well.

My package arrived yesterday from kittykill and I was totally spoiled!  When asked what I wanted I had requested an embroidered hoop for my wall and wowsers she sent 3.  I love her work it is always flawless!

1st up is this adorable fox wearing it's own nightcap.

2nd is an amazing hedgehog!

3rd this fun squirrel!

I love the subtleness of the colors that make it pop!  The red mushrooms, blue night cap, green leaves, red berries and just look at that blue ball of yarn.  She even added a heart button.  These are so pretty in person and I know the hours of work spent making all these tiny stitches!

kittykill also sent me an adorable felt brooch in 3 of my favorite colors.  Now I am getting old and my eyes do not see like they once did at first I thought the yellow scalloped edge was ric-rac but no sir it is hand cut scallops!

I also received this rad pair of knee hi socks .....so fun ....funky and me!!!!!!!

These are the cutest socks I have seen in a long while!!!!

I also go some woodland stickers....so pretty...they have gold metallic accents...loving all the animals and mushrooms!

Then just look at this cute set of nesting woodland animals!!!!!!  I have the perfect place in a displace cabinet for these little fellas!

Awe this is just to funny not to share:   When I came home yesterday from work I had a box from zulily......now for those of you that have ordered from this company.....you all know they always put a cute thank you note in the package.   Well...raises her hand.....I have 2 packages on the way from zulily and got a notification that one would arrive on Monday.    So my brain tired as it was left the package sitting until today thinking that one must have arrived early.  When I opened the box I saw this!  and was blown away.  I though wow zulily ya'll are really impressing me! This looks hand made...can't be though.  I laid it aside and then had a great big laugh as the package was not from zulily but kittykill

Just look at the small detail

Thanks kittykill I love my package!!!!!!!!!

Loving the pillow and the addition of the seed beads in your embroidery.

I have been spending my free time sewing and have managed to make a woodland quilt  for a swap partner, all from stash,  and some wonky house blocks for myself a quilt.

More photos of this one on the quilting finished project board.

And here is the beginning to my wonky house quilt. 10 blocks made and will get some more from a swap I am in right now.

10  Woodland Creature Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by quaggy on: February 14, 2016 08:42:54 PM
I made this quilt for my partner in the woodland creature swap.  I was able to use all stash and it was a fun quilt to make.  Each square is cut and sewn to the batting.  I used warm and natural.  Win Win since I had saved all my scraps of warms and natural from cutting out other quilts.  The blocks are quilted with random designs.  Next I traced all of the pieces onto my fusible web and cut them slightly larger.  After ironing them onto my fabric it was easy to cut the pieces out with minimal fabric waste.  I used a straight stitch to sew them on.  Next came the layout and sewing the top together.  I used a piece of fleece for the backing and after getting it all pinned sewed around each block to quilt the top to the backing.  I will use this method and pattern again it was so fun to make.
