What an interesting series of postings. There are so many young passionate vegetarians & vegans out there. I wanted to reply to represent those of us with some age. Various times in my life I have tried vegetarianism but it never lasted. (I grew up eating meat and if I am really honest, I enjoyed the taste.)
Something happened this year. I decided to give up meat/poultry for Lent this year. I fully expected to eat lamb on Easter Sunday but I couldn't go back to eating meat of any kind. During Lent I read The Face on Your Plate
by Masson. There wasn't anything particularly new but the writing was compelling.
For me, I think it will be a gradual process. I'm still eating fish (wild caught only). But I can see myself letting that go. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to make the step to being vegan. However, you never know.
