1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Need color help. Maroon cat focal point. on: July 12, 2011 07:14:30 PM
I am making a picture frame for a friend's bday and I have a maroon cat that I want as a dectoraive dodad to add to it.  Here is the link to what the cat looks like.  It is darker in person, more of a maroon.

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Looking for some crafts to do with photos I've taken. on: July 12, 2011 04:27:16 PM
Looking for some crafts to do with photos I've taken.  (Most are animal -reptile in particular- photos.)

That is not scrapbook related (sorry scrappers).
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Yes, a question about cost... premaking items that are needed. on: June 07, 2011 08:48:03 PM
For those of you who sell crafts where certain items are always used, in my case jewerly and jumprings.

Do you make a butt load ahead of time or as your project needs it?  I mean with something as simple as jumprings, they are must less costly to make than buy.  How should I price myself for that cost if I am spending an hour making findings I use in my works?  I don't really wanna figure how much per jump ring I can get if I buy x amount, I mean I could, but then I guess that would be based on the material used.  Gold vs. alumunium.

Should I just add the price of wire I use?  Just make it a flat hourly cost, spend 3 hours a week making a bunch of findings?
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Perfection: it is killing me! on: June 07, 2011 08:40:29 PM
I am my own worst enemy.  Really, I am.

I've been making some jewelry that I'd like to sell and I like my designs and putting the work into making them, but I am getting caught up in the fact that it is not 'perfect'.  I am trying to let myself enjoy the fact that it is handmade and the little quirks are part of it, but I am driving myself crazy over the littlest things.

I made a bracelet with heart buttons and it turns out nice, but I took it apart 3 different times.  Some of the hearts face the wrong way or the jump ring was on the wrong side letting the heart lean right instead of left.  With it being a charm bracelet it is meant to dangle and just be whimsical...While taking it apart, I re did all of the jump rings cause I had used a slightly octogonish chop stick, and found a perfectly round knitting needle for them (at a distance it is/was hardly noticeable).  But now while beading, the beads all need to face the same why, the "s" shaped jumps, tops need to face the left and bottoms the right.  I go through half of them figuring if I bend it at an able I'll have a 'straight s jump (does that make sense?)  And then each been needs to be spaced apart evenly with everything being symmetrical.
I think maybe by drawing out first or even setting up beads as to how I want them can help me get those things perfect.

*sigh* Am I crazy or what?

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Sharpening tools? on: June 05, 2011 06:39:20 AM
Any way I can sharpen my wire cutter?  It has like a 0.5 inch snipper blade thingy.

Hearts and Buttons Bracelet (8.5 inches) and Earrings

Sorry for the earrings pic, I didn't have time to get them outside to shoot.

First time jewlery maker.  It took hours to get things 'acceptable' even then I need to figure out a new way to make more rounded jump rings.
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Photography Tips? on: May 31, 2011 09:44:33 AM
I didn't notice if there was a forum for this, so I thought I'd ask here.

Anyone have any tips when photographing items for sale?
9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Fabric Cutting Systems on: May 29, 2011 05:35:51 PM
Have any of you heard of these?

AccuQuilt and QuiltCut?

They seem simarly priced, but I know with AccuQuilt needs dies and replacement mats while Quilt Cut needs roteray blades.

Does anyone have any feedback on them?

I am looking at them for small business craft, cutting cotten and non heavy fabrics.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Looking for Camo related sewing projects on: April 08, 2011 06:30:50 PM
My friend is redoing her room and wants camo items.  I am a bit lost on what to make her.  Message boards and throw pillows are about it...

Any ideas?
