1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Embroided Tote/Bag! GALLERY ::: Send out 07/11 on: June 30, 2009 07:47:15 AM
Beautiful embroidery, kind of intimidating actually.  I'm glad your package came on a day when you needed a lift.  I love when that happens to me.

Very intimidating. I really hope you like what I am making for you, Nikki.

I received my lovely package on Friday, sorry I am late posting, from Sillybowtie aka Nikki. First let me say I have been having some issues lately and Nikki's package could not of come at a better time. As soon as I checked my mail I quickly feed the kids then quietly went to my room and opened my package. The first thing I saw was the purple flower and it was so well done  that I actually thought for a moment that she had machine embroidered it, then as I looked over the rest of the embroidery I realized that Nikki just embroiders that well. The stitches are all perfect. The bag itself is light green with a bright purple/pink flowers and is really bright and beautiful and there are two large pockets inside. She also included a second bag to fit inside that matches and on it there is a knitted flower that I love because it is pretty and I can't knit so I am happy that she included it. Anyway, here are the pictures. Sorry I though I was getting a new camera for Mother's day but instead got a serger so I can't really complain too much.

Thanks Nikki!

After a 10 hour plane trip from Paris, I some how went to JoAnn's from the airport. I have the fabric picked out and some idea for the embroidery. Maybe I will have a dream on what the final design should be!

I can't believe you went to JoAnn's right away, you must have been exhausted.
Hope you had a great vacation.

I know everyone works differently, kinda like some choose the paint color of a room first and some choose rugs or upholstery design first.  Out of curiousity, do y'all choose the embroidery design first or the fabric for the tote first?

For me it depends on the project, sometimes I just know exactly what I want to do and have to find the right fabric (will know color scheme) and sometimes the fabric will call to me and the design comes later. Inspiration can be a hard thing to pin down but I usually have several ideas bouncing around my head just waiting to be used.

Whew, sarah I am right there with you. We went to Austin to visit family so I neglected to check in and then wham a million pages since I last checked. The good news is that I was able to go to Hancocks and get some really great stuff while I was there, they went out of business in my neck of the woods and even JoAnns is about 30 minutes away so I have to take advantage.
Anyway, I am back and ready to keep up.

I'm also in Texas went to bed late and found partners this Am.

Hey fellow Texan. I live in the southeast part of texas but am originally from Austin (family  still there). My partner for this swap only lives an hour and a half from me which is funny. What part are you from?
