11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Scorpio Hoopla on: December 21, 2014 05:18:14 PM
I made this for one of the Harry Potter swaps some time back...I love the oval hoop!  The person I swapped with was into Astronomy for her HP class.  I used shimmery thread (or maybe glow in the dark??) and dark blue felt.

12  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Damble Claus on: December 20, 2014 11:33:05 AM
I made this for the Very Harry Christmas swap -- Dumble Claus!  The plan was for an articulated paper doll ornament, but nothing ended up articulated.  There are many different layers...and I glittered....

13  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Hagrid the Elf on: December 20, 2014 11:31:10 AM

I made this for the Very Harry Christmas swap...Hagrid as an elf!  It is a slightly articulated paper doll (only the shoulders), but the pocket is popped up to hold candy canes, and there are other layers as well...
14  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Recovering a Vinyl Train Case on: June 05, 2014 06:56:13 AM
My friend has a train case from Target that she would like to redo.  The inside feels like a cheap baby blanket & the outside is lavender shiny vinyl (I think) with lime green trim and handle.  We have the inside figured out as I was able to remove the cardboard to recover it (or size whatever we use), but we can't figure out how to redo the outside.  It seems like paint would all chip off since it is slick feeling.  We had thought about paper, but what glue would last?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!

17  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 64 ENTRIES / Canvas of Creativity on: July 04, 2011 02:13:01 PM

this is my finished project from a class i took with one of the king's of the mixed media world - Tim Holtz - http://www.timholtz.typepad.com/ - called "Creative Blocks" -- we all started with the same materials, but were able to take it our own ways -- for example, i made my canvas vertical versus horizontal.  i also flipped one of my mini canvases to make a "shadow box"...color choices, paper choices, etc, were all mine Smiley  it was cool to see what others did with the same things and how different they all ended up

me with the master

some of the steps we took: layout, papering the squares & canvases, shadowing the squares by smudging pencil lines, attaching the mini canvases, inking away (if you know tim, you know ink!), coating the entire project in beeswax, adding fun embellishments...whew!  it was a 4 hour class & i finished mine the following weekend -- and mine is not near as embellished as it could have been!!!

and at the end, i was very inky & painty

materials used:
6x12 canvas
3 mini canvases
dictionary paper
scrapbook paper
tissue tape
metal embellishments
soft lead pencil
beeswax
screw eyes
dangle-y fun stuff
charms
frozen charlotte doll (ceramic)
paint
ink
stain
wooden topper
molded heart

18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / J & T Challenge 3: Erised Earrings! on: April 06, 2011 07:44:53 PM
I was recently in the OTHPT2 swap -- and I made a series of 4 pairs of earrings inspired by the Harry Potter series!  (Then I saw a cool necklace in new posts & it led me to this challenge -- how awesome!)...all were in a tiny wooden box that i decoupaged with pages from the first Harry Potter book (the chapter about the mirror of erided)...i also included a letter in my package from erised earrings -- a wizarding world store that specializes in earrings to meet your every desire Smiley

pair 1: floo powder: darice "jar" with tiny glass beads & shrinky dink tags

pair 2:norbert(a): shrinky dink

the other 2 i am not "entering" -- one is a pair of radish earrings using a pattern here on craftster, and the other pair was just frog charms from hobby lobby linked onto the hook...

20  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / tree & yarn stamps on: July 01, 2010 09:09:46 PM
here is what i sent attienichole in the "be awesome swap" -- she has received, so i am going to post the pictures i have!!

i did a set of stamps -- a tree (which she likes) and a yarn ball since she is a crocheter...i then used the stamps to create a "logo" for her etsy & craft fair business...i stamped the logo on a square notepad & then created some thank you notes, too...

i drew both items freehand.

this was my first stamp carving, and i was THRILLED with it!!
