21  Watermelon Hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by dinkime on: June 07, 2015 05:06:05 AM
I like doing hooplas by layering & stitching various colors of felt -- I think because it reminds me of paper piecing in scrapbooking!!

24  Re: I Love Harry Potter - OTHPT Valentines Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by dinkime on: February 14, 2015 08:57:15 PM
I sent to chrmisha who has received.  I made 4 small (2 inch) hoops -- a kind of triptych plus 1, lol...I also sent a card with a full shelf of potion bottles inside to color...and a bag of cinnamon jelly hearts!  I did not get a photo of the card, but here are the hoops!

25  Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment Shop Hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by dinkime on: February 13, 2015 07:34:03 PM
Created this in a 2 inch hoop for chrmisha in the I love Harry Potter - OTHPT Valentine Swap long with 3 other small hoops.  This is based of a favorite store!  I had to google the shop to see its sign/logo and go from there.   The stars & name are in sparkly thread (which I hate using!)...

26  Tree Carving Hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by dinkime on: February 13, 2015 07:29:51 PM
This is in a 2 inch hoop.  I made this (and 3 more) for chrmisha in the I Love Harry Potter - OTHPT Valentines Swap.

I messaged chrmisha about favorite HP couple...she went "old school" with Lily and Snape.  I can imagine Snape (especially when he was young) carving his & Lily's initials in a tree...possibly even the whomping willow??

27  Weasley Burrow Hoopla Set in Needlework: Completed Projects by dinkime on: February 13, 2015 07:27:17 PM
These are each in a 2 inch hoop.  I made these (and 2 more) for chrmisha in the I Love Harry Potter - OTHPT Valentines Swap.

Here is the burrow.  I based it off the drawing in one of the Harry Potter books.  I added the tree and some flowers to have a more colors than just various shades of brown.

The companion to the Burrow is Ron's quote about his house: "It's not much, but it's home."  I used the same colors as the other hoop so they would look good together.

28  Hit Like a Girl Hoopla & Drumstick Holder in Needlework: Completed Projects by dinkime on: February 10, 2015 02:30:22 PM
I was recently paired with stillatthetop in the Box of Color Swap.  She chose purple.  She said she would like a music themed hoopla.  I got out of her that she was a drummer. This is an 8 inch hoop (I think!).  The background is a purple bandana.  The fist is from an image I found via Google.  It is felt.  I made it separate from the background and then stitched it on.  The letters are iron on embroidered letters!  The stick holder is bandana fabric with a felt lining.  I added the pink nail and bows to add to the girl-y-ness of it all.

29  Re: Box of Color Round Two in The Swap Gallery by dinkime on: February 10, 2015 09:11:10 AM
Stillatthetop received and has had some camera issues.  Unfortunately, I only took ONE photo of what I sent her!

I made her a girl drummer hoop & drumstick holder!

There were also purple tongs & a spoon rest, greeting cards, a mini book for notes or photos, a butterfly clip, purple striped straws, some carved stamps & ink, a pinwheel, and I don't remember what else!  Lots of purple crinkley paper & Easter grass, too...
