2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / The very hungry caterpillar! on: September 25, 2011 01:15:07 PM
While browsing round a carboot sale I stumbled across this loveable little fellow- the very hungry caterpillar

Then a whole heap of fond memories of the book came flooding back. Then I was on a mission to introduce my youngest to the joy that is the very hungry caterpillar so off I ran to get my stash of scrap materials for the applique and the lovely cream jersey fabric I had left over from another project and of course the sewing machine! and here's what I came up with-

Both the quilt and bumper are made of double layers of thick Jersey knit fabric and the cute little caterpillar, apple and leaf were cut out of un wanted jumpers and simply sewn on.

Proof the little boy likes it, bless him he chatted away for ages!

Hope you like him as much as me and my boy does x

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: the great t-shirt compromise on: August 25, 2011 01:08:52 AM
Thank you every1,
to be honest I am no quilter this was my first project of this type, so there is probably plenty i should have done differently, I cant say I really did anything to prevent the t-shirts curling during the making, just a good old iron! I did use a zig zag stitch on the seams to prevent curling after.
There is a quick tute on my blog if any1 fanceys a nosey?
And thank you again for your kind words.
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / the great t-shirt compromise on: August 18, 2011 02:25:13 PM
The dilemma- my son is a hoarder and never wants to get rid of nothing ever! And slowly but surely his wardrobe was filling up on t-shirts that were far too small for my son but he was not willing to let them go not for love nor money, he was adamant on keeping every last one of them. I racked my brain for ages as well as begging and pleading with my son. Eventually a light came on and I had the solution!

The compromise- a t-shirt throw! He gets to keep his much loved t-shirts and I get to clear his wardrobe perfect.

Ohhh yeah did I forget to mention that this did by no means resolve my sons hoarding problem? As he now reasons with me that there is method to his madness and he is now saving his t-shirts for matching curtains! Oh dear what have I started.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / BOOBIE PADS out of an old bed sheet on: August 17, 2011 04:10:36 PM
Do forgive me if this is in the wrong place but it is clothing to a degree and reconstructed?!

I found the disposable breastpads to be costly and rather quite uncomfortable and sweaty. Browsing through the net I stumbled on many tutorials for washable breastpads and thought Id giveem a whirl and found them to be great! I made mine using 5 layers of fabric cut out of an old flannel bed sheet which worked wonders.

Best thing about using an old sheet is you wouldn't believe how many pads you can get out of just one sheet! a full tutorial can be found on my blog http://junkies-craft-spot.blogspot.com/2011/08/boobie-pads.html

thanx for reading
night!
