1  Princess Zelda in Costumes: Completed Projects by phoquess on: October 20, 2009 01:18:57 PM
My costume for Anime Banzai which was last weekend. It was awesome! Although my dress ripped in a few places D:

Anyway, this is an *original design* Princess Zelda... I looked at some canon designs (mostly Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time) and then decided to make my own. It turned out almost exactly as I planned, hooray! It features a steel-boned and busked corset (my first "real" corset), screenprinted banner, and craft-foam armor.

(without my wig on, also missing half my face)

At the dance with a Link I didn't know XD

BONUS!
Anime Banzai also featured a Pajama Party contest... you had to design what your character would wear as pajamas! I was totally excited for this and made a Zelda nightgown. The skirt is a circle skirt (very good for twirling) with triforces I screened all the way around the bottom. I'm really proud of it and guess what? It won!

2  'Wild Thing' underwear in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by phoquess on: September 04, 2009 09:20:29 PM
Please forgive the really awful mirror shots Smiley I suppose this might be 'mature'.

I freaking LOVE making my own panties. It's awesome. I may never buy underwear again, it's too much fun... especially cause they're so easy. Plus, I just bought a serger, and it's not as if I need an excuse to use it...

Yes, the fabric really is that vibrant (I love it so hard).

Also, as if the above wasn't proof enough, I apparently have a sekrit love for everything obnoxious and tacky. Because as soon as I got my serger home, I decided I MUST DECORATE WITH SPARKLY UNICORNS.

3  Zebras and identity shirts in Screen Printing: Completed Projects by phoquess on: August 05, 2009 09:06:53 PM
So my mom bought herself a Yudu machine for her birthday. To date, she hasn't actually screened anythingbut we've coordinated on some cool stuff. AKA she buys the stuff, I'll do the work, voila, some silkscreened awesomeness.

^That's my favorite of the shirts we made... I mixed fuschia and gunmetal to get the silvery magenta. It marbled a littler, which I should have been expecting but wasn't, but I think it turned out cool, even though I didn't get all the details right on the head.

Same design, but in silver for my sis. We did four of these total, but these are my favorite two.

Long story short: at competitions every year, my sisters and I get mixed up and mistaken for each other. ALL. THE. TIME. It doesn't help that we pretend to be each other. Smiley Although we're not the same age and don't even look alike. But since everyone at competition knows us, we thought this would be a fun inside joke. We made three total in different colors, but I didn't have them to take pictures of.

4  Necklace and thread earrings for mom in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by phoquess on: May 14, 2009 01:24:49 PM
So, my first post in the jewelry forum Smiley I used to bead when I was in jr high or so, but haven't done it much since then. But my mom's birthday was last Thursday, and she loves jewelry, so I decided to give it a try. The necklace is a remake of one of mine that broke years ago, which I have always missed; the earrings are a brand-new skill.

Seed bead necklace with heart toggle:

Thread earrings: (I know they're uneven)

And, in keeping with the handmade theme, I made her this bag to put them in, as 'wrapping paper':

5  Girly underwear in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by phoquess on: February 24, 2009 10:20:56 AM
Background: several years ago, during a family vacation, all the girls in my family got a pair of boxers that looked like this:

They didn't fit very well and they weren't very comfortable. I don't know what happened to my pair (these were in a bag of hand-me-downs from my cousin.) I decided to remake them into something that would fit, something I would wear. I'm not a very girly girl, but I like these. Cheesy

(no action shot sorry)

6  Lolita-esque black/red kanji skirt and tutorial in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by phoquess on: January 24, 2009 10:56:49 AM
This skirt was kind of an accident... I saw the fabric and was doomed from then on. The skirt has a matching top, not pictured (I'm not happy with the sleeves, so I'm reworking them.)

The skirt has channels so it can be drawn up, bustle-style, as below.

I made the top first, and it was a bit too short on me, so I wanted the skirt to be high-waisted to compensate. I'm pleased to say it fits me perfectly!

The tutorial is here: http://phoquess.livejournal.com/22275.html

ETA: here's a picture of the underskirt. It's insanely poofy, but the overskirt tones it down a little.

7  Zebra hoodie and hat in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by phoquess on: January 16, 2009 07:41:15 PM
First project post! Never before had I realized how dangerously alluring zebra fleece could be...

I made this based on this tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=177602.0%22. It's a little too small, but fortunately the fleece stretches. Also the hood seems unfinished (I left it unlined, raw edges) but I'm too lazy to do anything about it. Smiley

And then, in a fit of boredom, I looked up a handful of tutorials and promptly decided to ignore them all and screw up seventeen times over instead, resulting in this:
