1  Geeky Tee Recons! Death Note, Star Wars, Zelda, MGS in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by eleniel on: June 04, 2009 06:08:34 PM
Here are a bunch of recons of nerdy tees I have done over the past few months... lots of pics!

First up, Boba Fett tee! I took inspiration from this thread: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=294595.0  and picked it out from the boy's department at Wal-Mart.  I made it in 2 days, just in time for the mc chris show!

Next is a Zelda tee I found at a comic book store.  This is a very simple recon; it's an XL shirt that I changed into a scoopy v-neck and took in the sides so it fit better.  I kept the length so it is nice and looonnnng:

(The banner says "Hero of Hyrule")

This one is the first tee recon I ever did, and I winged it, so it is VERY sloppy... it is taken in on one side and the hood is crooked and the neckline is unfinished.  Yuck.  But, I just love L and Death Note so I wear this around the house when it's cold XD; For the sleeves and hood I got a large flannel shirt that was on sale at Old Navy.  I learned a lot from this though!

And lastly is the shirt I finished just now, a Metal Gear Solid 4 shirt from Hot Topic that I turned into this awesome tank top! I am sooooo proud of this one, that's why there are so many pictures! I took some black knit fabric I had lying around and made side panels, a top band, and straps for it.  It is a little bit fitted around the bust.  Initially it was very long and I thought about making it a dress, but I like the tank top better (and I will get more wear out of it this way; I don't wear dresses much!).  The pics:

The front:

The front again--you can see the side panel better:

The back--it's the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots logo (sorry about the bra straps ><):

It helps that MGS4 is the best game evar xD;;

Anyway, thanks for looking! =)

2  Red Pinstripe Dress (first post!) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by eleniel on: January 13, 2009 08:44:21 PM
Hi there craftsters! I have two questions for you all.  But first, some pictures of the dress I've almost completed:

This dress is inspired by Misa Amane's black pinstripe dress in Death Note.  Though, I altered the bottom.  (I know the front panel is shorter than the others.  Not sure I can do anything about it at this point =( Also it needs ironing!)  I didn't use a pattern or anything.  It's a short dress with four slits and a pixie skirt underneath.  But it's not quite finished, and I need your help!

1. Technical question: The black skirt is lining fabric and it's fraying at the ends.  What should I do about it? The fabric is very thin, so I'm afraid my old machine will make the edge wrinkly.

2. How does the bottom look? Should I keep the uneven pixie skirt? Or should I shorten the corners slightly? Completely?

Any advice is much appreciated =)  Thanks, gang!
