1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Downton Abbey Swap (Signups 3/12-3/31; send by 4/30) on: April 20, 2012 07:48:31 AM
Good for you whenindoubtsew!  Also, I'm going to have to check out that Titanic series, I miss Downton!  Only 10 days left!

So glad I got my machine back last night!  Grin  The timing was off, the guy said sewing through cereal boxes will do that.  No more cereal box postcard making for me!  I'm back to working on my project...

I am having crafting troubles as well.  My sewing machine conveniently decided to malfunction during the only time all week I've gotten both my babies to nap at the same time!  Tongue I'm taking it in Monday for repair.

Hopefully I can find sometime amid all the festivities this weekend to work on my project some more!  I picked up the last of the supplies I'll need at the store yesterday.

I'm off to dye some eggs...we made dye from beets, blueberries, and onion skins for the first time this year.  Hope they turn out all right!

Can't wait to get partners and get started!!

Dmarie- I love your Downton Abbey pinterest!  I had totally forgotten about that "put that in your pipe and smoke it" line.

Just an fyi to whoever I'm partnered up with, I would love something with that quote on it!  My husband is an avid pipe smoker (tobacco, not the funny stuff Smiley ) and I'm starting to collect pipe related art.

How was it learning to write hanacaraka? Did you find it hard to make it look legible? (I did at first.)

Tongue  I didn't think it would be as hard as it was.  I destroyed the first inchie with script I made because I did it in pen first.  After that it took several attempts-in pencil, to get it to look right.  I'm so glad you like them!  They were a lot of fun to make, looking forward to round 2!

Recieved my inchies from Kitten Wrangler yesterday!  Not only are the awesome inchies but, each set has a really meaningful and personal story behind it.

LOVE these origami envelopes that seperate each of the sets.  Much more creative than my method of throwing them all in the envelope all jumbled up.  Tongue  Stealing this idea next inchie swap I do!

These are nature inspired (which was my theme) and also depict the area where my partner grew up and many generations of her family lived.  I love the personal story!

The next two sets are inspired by songs.  This one by the song Loverman by Nick Cave.  I love the vintage picture of the couple on the moon!

This one is by the song Il Peso della Valigia by Luciano Ligabue.  It's based on a poem he wrote which I thought was really neat too.

Sun, rain, snow, storms
On the suitcase, and inside your head
And legs for going
And a mouth for kissing

Sun, rain, snow, storms
On your hair, over the things you've seen
And arms for holding
And hips for dancing

I had fun learning more about my partner and exploring some music which I had never heard before.  I really appreciate all of the hard work she put in to creating these artistic and thoughtful inchies for me!!
