This is a super cute idea! I love it, and I love the recycled aspect of it. The photos make it hard to really get a feel for how they look in person. Do the beads look cloudy, or is the resin really clear? I've never used resin, so I have no idea.
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: embroidered hand print shirt - easy grandma gift! on: December 24, 2008 07:45:30 AM
I think this is a great idea, and it's executed as well. My only worry is that I think it needs just a little something more... a necklace with a hand-print charm? I dunno. I'm just tossing out ideas.

I agree that it needs something more.  It was VERY last minute!  I think variegated floss would have looked nicer.  I like the handprint necklace...you could use shrinky dinks!

...oooh or if you just get a hand-shaped charm and then made the chain with seedbeads and swarovski crystals in each of the grandkids' birthstone colors, or something similar. That'd be pretty. Or even if you just leave out the hand charm and do a colorful birthstone necklace. That wouldn't take long to make and wouldn't be really expensive, but it would add a little extra color and personality to the shirt. She could wear them separate or together. Smiley

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Vine Bracelet and Wire Ring on: December 24, 2008 06:21:01 AM
This is a great idea! I think all the different beads you used are beautiful. I do think, however, that you could make this look even more like a vine by doing a few things just a little different. I'm thinking that if you twisted the wires a little looser it would seem more natural, and some of the branches could be a little longer. Also, you know how some vines have random little curly parts? I think if you twisted some "branches" without beads and then made them curly like that (think grape vines), it would look super neat.

That bracelet is just beautiful! I'm not a huge fan of the 1st pair of earrings (something doesn't work just right between the findings and the beads... I'm not sure why), but I do love the 2nd pair. The beads with the holes in them are neat!
