1  Home Sweet Home Swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by plumbucket on: August 08, 2011 07:57:44 AM

I, like many of my friends, am moving off-campus this year into a beautiful house in my downtown area.  I know there are a ton of domestic divas here in Craftster land, as well as people who just like to have a little prettiness in their homes.

I was thinking that it would be nice to do some sort of swap that involves household goodies.  Whether it be a set of napkins, a tablecloth, an embroidered wall hanging, a rug, a spoon rest, curtains, or what have you, I think this would be a nice thing to set up.

It seems that this month is packed with swaps, but I did not have a particular month in mind.  I've only participated in one swap so far, so I can't organize it unfortunately.

Is there anyone that would be interested in organizing this, and is there anyone that can see themselves participating in it?

2  Pageantry Arts--Colorguard/Marching Band/Drumline/Winter Guard & Drumline in New Swap Theme Ideas by plumbucket on: November 30, 2010 10:12:37 PM
Are there any others that would be interested in a pageantry arts themed swap?  I don't know if there's enough interest for a good-sized swap for each individual subcategory, but perhaps the whole one would have better luck.

It would involve all things colorguard, winterguard, drumline, indoor drumline, and marching band.  Crafts could include jewelry, stenciled items, knitted items (for those cold games and parades), bags for the various needs of the performer, and, of course, anything else you could think of or ask for.

What do you think?

3  Lace Twist Mitts in Knitting: Completed Projects by plumbucket on: February 14, 2010 05:19:49 PM
Shortly after finishing my lacy scarf, I found the pattern for these Lace Twist Mitts in the Fall '09 knitscene.

I finished both in three days. The first one was the most tedious; the second whipped right up.

Mine doesn't look like the picture, since I used the wrong weight yarn, but it's cool with me, 'cause I love them in all their imperfection. Smiley

4  Re: Undeterminable Quilt Top Layout. Please Help! in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by plumbucket on: February 08, 2010 04:53:18 PM
More options:

I'm thinking also that I do have some hourglass blocks that were pretty bad, so I could take the triangle from that, put it in the middle block, and have a fun centerpiece.

5  Undeterminable Quilt Top Layout. Please Help! in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by plumbucket on: February 08, 2010 08:41:13 AM
We've had no school for most of the past week, so I got started on putting together this quilt (the pieces were cut two years agoish).

Unfortunately, when I whipped this pattern of the walmart thing, I didn't notice the lack of a picture and my grandmother didn't ask me if there was one. She just told me I'd be able to do it.

I've taken an hour our two to kind of lay out some different ideas for it.  The block layouts originally put the green triangles in the four-part blocks on the right side, but after a while, I just started messing with it.

Please tell me which one you think is best/how I should change it.

Sorry for making you look at this crazy-busy amalgamation of pattern (and the pictures that my computer managed to screw up when pulling them from my phone).

6  Lace Scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by plumbucket on: February 08, 2010 05:52:57 AM
I made this over Christmas break (aka a while ago), but never posted it.

It started out as a pattern from some website, but it wasn't working out for me, so then I just kind of winged it.

Hope you like it!

Just for fun

It's kind of short (because I thought I was going to run out of yarn), but it's cozy, and I like it.

7  Open House School Spirit Shirt! in Stenciling: Completed Projects by plumbucket on: February 08, 2010 04:25:00 AM
I've looked at stuff on this site for forever, only recently gotten an account, and, this is my first project post!

The college I'm going to is having an open house for admitted students, so a bunch of us on facebook decided to have a little fun. The guys are wearing purple pants and the girls are wearing decorated yellow shirts. It's going to be a lot of fun!

So here's the back of my shirt. (JMU Dream Team/Class of 2014--I did not come up with the words, just the stencil.)

Here's the little design I chose to add to the front.

Here it is hanging between my two dressers.

I know it's not perfect, but everyone loves it and I was able to make a little tutorial and stencil for everyone that wanted to try.

Thanks for checking it out!

C&C welcome!

P.S. I'm wondering if anyone has a good link to some business with freezer paper stenciling, because I've sort of picked up that it cuts back on the bleeding a bit? I'm not a regular stenciler, but now I have a whole bottle of fabric medium and it's pretty easy, so I might as well.
