61  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Sister birthday/christmas help on: December 15, 2004 08:14:32 PM
Tampax has those little plastic tampon holders for those tampons that fit in the palm of your hand.  I think they still give them away for free.  Those are great and the tampons dont get all squished i your purse/bookbag.  They're also easy to personalize.

63  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Crafty But Stupid: YOUR CRAFT RELATED INJURIES HERE! on: December 12, 2004 03:16:43 AM
The worst crafting accident I know of happened to my great-grandmother. That side of the family came from Hungary and had a summer house on the lake, a good 45 minutes ride by train from the nearest hospital.  When my grandmother was about 12 or 13, she and her mother were sitting out on the front porch, sewing.  Her mother set her work aside and went inside for something.  When she came back, she missed picking up her scissors, which had fallen open and were pointing up.  She sat down and got one blade almost all the way stuck in her bum.  She immediately realized her mistake and shot out of her seat.  My grandmother had to take her by train to the hospital for the doctors to remove it and put in stitches, all without any anesthesia.

Wow, I love that costume!  The material is really cool, as well.  How long did it take you?

Would anyone be interested in starting a craft circle or Stitch'n'Bitch in the Topeka/Lawrence area?
