41  Re: 50 Projects 2010 in Craftalongs by envirocraft on: February 05, 2010 04:16:03 PM
So I finally finished 2 more projects! One being the dress I've been working on, the other being a necklace to go with it!  Here's a teaser pic, I'll take more tomorrow and hopefully have full posts up on both of them some time this weekend after I get to wear it to a friend's wedding tomorrow!

42  Bathing suit form bag! (img chubby) in CHALLENGE 47 ENTRIES by envirocraft on: February 01, 2010 04:22:00 PM
Firstly, I want to say WOW! I thought I had a great unique idea, and then I saw the wonderful stuff everyone else has made! Good work everyone!

Okay, so I don't go by envirocraft for nothing... this challenge really excited me!

Here's what I ended up with (I didn't buy anything to make this project!)

I bought a new bathing suit a while back (I just so happened to find one at costco I liked, and when you find bathing suits you like, even if it's minus 40 degrees outside, and you have no plans of a trip to mexico, you buy it!!!)

It came on one of those plastic body forms.  The body form had found its way into my blue bin recycling. I put my recycling out that week.  They didn't come pick up that week, and what a blessing in disguise.

So I decided to paint the inside inspired by my sister's (unfinished) art at my mom's house:

I drew the pattern I wanted on the inside with permanent marker

It was very weird drawing in the boob cavities and the "downstairs" region! LOL

I then painted it with acrylics... with a mishap along the way:
Blue paint on my chocolate brown  curtains

I have a very small work area, so sometimes stuff like this happens (I cleaned it up right away and it mostly came out!)

I sewed a fabric bag from my stash, and inserted it.  I added eyelets (also from stash) in the plastic so if it was heavy the plastic wouldn't rip, and added ribbon as handles (the ribbon came from Retmains shopping bag!)

The fabric bag is only attached by the ribbon strap so it can be taken out for washing if need be!

And here's how it looks:
(Boob side)

(downstairs side)

(Inside-the tissue paper roses beside it were made by my boyfriend for me for our one year anniversary! He's SO SWEET!!!)

I had a lot of fun making it.  It's not all that "grocery bag-y" so I think what I might do is put a longer and wider strap on it to make it more of a shoulder bag.

I hope you like it too! Don't forget to vote when the time comes!

I just finished a GIANT project.  This one takes care of a couple on my list.  One of them being coffee filter roses, the other being a wedding gift.

I'm super proud of it! It was a lot of work!  It's for a wedding gift, I'm pretty sure she's going to go nuts for it!  I have separate posts for the bath bombs and roses, the links are in the wedding one.

44  Wedding Gift!!! in Weddings and Bridal Showers by envirocraft on: January 31, 2010 05:18:56 PM
My boyfriend's best work friend is getting married this coming weekend, so I decided to make her something special.  She has pretty expensive tastes, but LOVES Etsy stores, so even though I don't have one, I decided to make her something.

Here's the whole gift

Here's the bath bombs

45  Roses for a wedding gift in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by envirocraft on: January 31, 2010 05:13:02 PM

This is the outside of the gift. I like when the packaging is part of the gift!

I made 4 white roses and 5 purple ones.

I put them on a coffee can filled with bath bombs and melts!

Lastly, I attached them to the lid by cutting a hole and sticking the stems through.  They're not glued on or anything so that she can take them off and use them in a vase if she wants!

These are the bath bombs that are in the gift:

Fields of Gold "You can tell the sun in his jealous sky that this is your bath, so get lost! Relax with sweet orange and vanilla as you lie in your very own field of gold"

These bombs are obviously vanilla and sweet orange scented, and they have gold glitter in them!!

Girls Love Pearls "This cheerful bomb of lavender and peppermint is refreshing and revitalizing. Use it to get ready for a night on the town or a night on the couch!"

The girl who I made this for loves pearls and purple!

Normally I like my bath bombs unpackaged (lush style!)  But these were going in a coffee can, and I didn't want all the scents to mix!

I also made some bath melts (wrapped in gold foil) that are lemon lime scented.

Nothing new to post, and I can relate with you alwaysinmyroom - I keep starting new things and not finishing anything!!  lol

I've now put up a mini tute for my fabric curlers because people were curious how to make them:http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=335289.msg3878934#msg3878934

I've also been working on my Threadbanger $10 wedding dress.  I needed my mom's help last night to pin it because I don't have a body form!  I sometimes forget how much my mom knows about sewing because she doesn't do it anymore.  But she's soooo smart and I really do value her help sometimes!!! Smiley  I usually try to muddle through on my own and learn from my mistakes!

***Mini tute***

1. Make fabric pouch.  The size is entirely dependent on what size your curlers are.  I eyeballed it.

2. Cut the curler foam in HALF (i realized i failed at this for the picture, but I really mean half).  You might find you have to cut down the foam too so it fits inside your pouch.

3. Put both pieces of foam same side down in the pouch.

4. Sew the top shut.

5. Sew the 2 sides together with the hole side on the inside! This way when you put the fabric covered piece back on the plastic part the hole is still around the plastic post.

6. You're not ready to curl!!!

50  My take on fabric curlers in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by envirocraft on: January 24, 2010 02:56:52 PM
Okay, so I had a bunch of those foam curlers that were really old and getting gross.  And by gross, I mean the foam was getting flaky and i couldn't use them without getting foam in my hair. YUCK
