1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Soldering help - weird gunky brown stuff on: April 11, 2006 06:27:38 PM
ok so i've removed the image coz i realized that the picture is first-class &%#! as far as illustrating the problem is concerned...sorry about that lol

I saw the postage stamp necklaces and the different varieties of glass sandwiches that had been made into beautiful jewellery on here so i thought id give it a go.
I grabbed a scrap piece to practise on and did the edges with the copper tape like you're sposed to and then i put the flux on and when i soldered onto it, the solder was gorgeous (in colour, not application as you can see lol) but there was some weird brown liquid in it. It almost looks like burnt caramel!? I thought maybe i had unwittingly got the sort of solder that already has flux in it but when i tried to put some on without flux it didnt go on as smooth or easily, it jsut stayed on the iron...ARGHH!!
Lol, its frustrating to say the least...
any help is greatly appreciated Smiley thanks guys
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Gallery of Cool Phrases/Lyrics/Words on: February 10, 2006 07:49:00 PM
I guess gallery is the right word...Cheesy

Anyway, i've been lamenting over what to stencil on my mesenger bag for a little while now, and yesterday at school i saw the back of my friend Sarah's bag, she'd stencilled the word 'sunshine' on it. There was nothing particularly special about the stencil or her bag...(Plain old brown almost sacking type material mesenger bag and an undersprayed cursive font)...But nevertheless i found myself wondering how many other words there were out there that I had never even considered before....who knew sunshine could look so awesome?

So, my idea is this: We have a thread where we post words or lyrics or phrases or anything really that looks cool written (you could even specify a font if you so desire!) that you would have on a tee or a bag or pants or necklance or w.h.y

I'll start...

"Strange as angels" - Just like heaven by The Cure
"Soul" - coolest word ever (i love it!) but i'm feeling some soul overkill coming on in the near future!
"Electric Voodoo" I dunno where this came from but i think its kinda rockin' Cheesy
Ill post more later, i just wanted to get everone started Smiley
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / "I Love You" votives? on: February 01, 2006 07:48:23 PM
Im not sure if this has been done or not, what i would like to make is 8 or so candle holders that look as though theyr a solid colour when unlit, but once a lit candle is inside letters come up on each one to spell out "I love you" (or any other phrase)

I was thinking i could make a frame from wire, cover it with a semi-thick card and have the letter cut out, then cover the whole thing with coloured tissue paper (probably red)...

Do you think this'l work?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jacket with red buttony swirls!...LOTS of buttons... on: January 26, 2006 01:30:21 PM
Remember that crappy syke top i made? (if you dont then count yourself lucky...it really was quite horrible)
Anyways...i really like the font so i thought it would be a real waste to throw the top away so i cut out the front panel andswed it onto the back of my jacket Cheesy
The bottons are hot glued on in the pic which is only temporary...im cureently halfway through sewing them on...its a very long and somewhat dire process...

Oh yes and since this pic i have added some black pockets to the front and i have some black leather...im going to stencil something onto it and make a patch....i think...

What do you think of my buttony goodness?!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Hard rock caf tank/singlet top :) on: January 26, 2006 01:19:59 PM
Ok so this was a plain white tank i got at farmers for like...$7 or something...actually kind of overpriced considering it was on special and its see though and looses its shape really easily...
anyways.
I sewed on the black side panels and cut the hard rock logo out of a t-shirt i had....you see the thing is that it was hard rock 'sydney' and while sydney is great for some reason it become that these tees arent cool unless theyr from LA....so yup...i cut out the logo and zig zag stitched it onto the tank...it was supposed to give it some 'edge' (the zigzags) but i think it justy kinda looks scruffy lol...well maybe its a scruffy edge?

so here she is Cheesy

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Lacey/ribbony pencil skirt gorgeousness! on: January 26, 2006 01:14:27 PM
Cheesy this is my first oencil skirt! Ok so the ribbon and lace makes it lose its shape a bit...i assure u that under the dangly bits it is most definately a pencil skirt...trust me...i cant walk in it lol
Anyways, it has a zip at the back with a hook and eye closure on top to finish Smiley

And without any further ado...

The skirt by itself:

Befor i continue i would like to warn and apologise in advance for the mad hair and silly poses....

7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / A big ol boz of industrial zippers... on: December 27, 2005 06:11:16 PM
Well most of them are pretty huge, some are jeans zippers from like...the 70s and a few are normal ones but are really long. I was tinking of making a skirt (theres lots of different colours) and i saw this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=4373&start=0
by Garbage Collector but i ws just wondering if theres anything else you wonderfully crafty people could think of?

I was inspired by the striped skirt tutorial on here, although its a bit different because none of the fabric i used was stretch so this hs a zip in the side Smiley
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Prettyful singlet...*Imagine* on: December 19, 2005 04:25:40 PM
Ok im pretty sure this counts as a recon...correct me if im wrong though Cheesy
I had a white singlet lying around that had lost its pearly white sheen and seeing as i'd recently gotten another exactly the same i fingured i could afford to destroy it Cheesy I Got some textile paint and painted the tree and the lettering and then sewed the buttons on. Simple i know but i reckon it turned out quite fantastic Cheesy

Stencil for the tree was from the stencilry site, but i altered it a little.

Ok heres the entire singlet:

And heres a close up of the tree and stuffs:

Note: I took these pictures b4 i sewed the buttons on...in the images theyr just sitting there looking gorgeous lol
